What do you guys that shoot in the moderate ranges like to use when hunting? I do a fair bit of shooting in the 4-600 yard range and have taken elk out to 550.
I have always shot off a backpack but thinking that I may be better off in a lot of situations with a bipod.

for a middle of the road bipod, as in cost and weight, I've really enjoyed my Magpul bipod and would recommend it.

I like my Atlas bipod.

I’ve been looking at these. No experience with em. Not cheap. But light.

I have a handful of Harris bipod, an atlas, and a javelin
For my hunting rifles it’s typically the javelin because it’s light and not always attached atlas is rock solid and bomb proof. The Harris work well but I’d rather use the atlas

I was going start a thread on this also. I am looking for a light weight one that would be good for a bolt gun and also for an ar

I use the javelin. Slow to adjust height with twist locks. But I like carrying in pocket and slap on when needed. If it had quick adjust would be great. They have tried to figure that out but not there yet. Takes me a minute to get setup with it at times. This is for 1000 yard shot accuracy so you have some time, hopefully.

I prefer shooting sticks to bipods, I hate that thing hanging off my gun. I use the sticks as a walking aid

I use sticks, but have considered one of those javelin bipods for the quick connect. My reasoning being if I need it, I probably have time to set it up.
-
Harris bipod for me. It could be lighter but fairly simple to use.
-
I use a Harris that is tall enough to shoot from the sitting position. I give away being able to use it prone, but I've never shot an animal prone due to weeds and other stuff in the way and if I did have an opportunity I would just use my pack. Probably 2/3 or more of my shots are from sitting.
-
Harris bipod for me. I dont believe I've ever shot an antelope other than prone with a Harris.

I look at bipods as a prone shooting device. My goal is always to get prone if possible.
If I need to be sitting I’ll use my tripod instead.
-
Does anyone use rear support from sitting position? How?
-
If shooting off my tripod I usually try and use my pack as a rear support. Trecking pole or long stick would also work grab the pole at the correct height and rest the rear on your hand.

Take a look at: https://kramerdesignscorp.com/V2SnipePod.html. Not your typical bi-pod. I liked mine. Lost a leg and have not replaced it, though.
-
For the price of the Atlas, I have all three sizes of the leg notch, swivel Harris pods.......6-9, 9-13, and 13-27.

I picked up a spartan from a member. Hopefully I will have a chance to try it out soon.
