Besides interactions on hunting forums (like on Hunt WA, WapitiTalk, Archery Talk, etc..) do you share your learned elk hunting knowledge (obtained from years of being in the mix experience) freely with younger/newer hunters? Are you reluctant to do so for any reason? Just asking.

It depends. There are new hunters that I'm happy to share all the information in the world with. Even take them along and show them the ropes. There are others I get a bad vibe from and I am leary about sharing info. I've been burned in the past sharing good info, so I'm picky about it anymore.
I also have been on the newbie end of that stick before so I understand and appreciate those that were willing to share, and try to be respectful of their knowledge and information shared.

Yes sir... I agree.

I will add, that I have probably gained more than I have shared on this forum. A few members have been very generous, and lent me a helping hand in being successful in new areas, and with new techniques. I try to keep that in the back of my mind when I see requests for information and feedback.

Not just elk but everything.
Our camp is older guys. We realized we needed some younger blood. There are grandsons, and granddaughters coming along. But that’s not enough because they don’t have the time to take a week off.
Last year we picked up one of the new guys that posted here. He brought his wife and they fit right in. We passed all the info we had on to them and enjoyed their company.
This year they want to come back, turkey, elk, deer.
It takes a leap of faith to invite a stranger but so far it has worked out for us.
In the past 6 years we have adopted five. Each one became a asset to our camp.
If you have a regular camp to keep going you have to pick up new blood or it fades away. Over the years we have lost 20 or more for differ t reasons.
If you aren’t sharing new hunters you are putting a nail in the coffin.
Few years back my buddy and I drew spring bear permits. A forum member on here contacted us and offered up spot on intel and we both got our bears. This same member helped us both get our bears out too.
We invited to deer camp.
I will help folks whenever I can.
