The NRA appears to be imploding.

Oh I'm sure they'll get it all straightened out eventually.

Doesn't appear to be imploding to me. Just a power struggle at the top. Not even much of struggle really.

Probably for the better for both of those guys to leave the NRA leadership. North was a felon which painted a poor picture of the org for those who think that a felon can't legally own guns.
Reminds me of the western where both gunfighters kill each other... one bang, both drop slowly to the dust... and the clock strikes 12.

Funny how some people react to the media. The media hates the NRA, they will use anything to try and discourage members from staying members, make no mistake, we have guns because of the NRA. Like was mentioned and as with most organizations, occasionally there are power struggles in leadership.

I don't believe we wouldn't have guns without the NRA, we probably would have some more limits, but they haven't done anything that I can tell saved my guns for me. Any pro 2A group could do what they did, if only we could find one that wasn't so out of touch, money hungry and so hard to work with. I think they are driving us over a cliff and would welcome a replacement without all the baggage. :twocents:

No other group has the membership numbers (voters) nor the influence on politicians. Think about this, if they are so ineffective why do the left and the media hate them? If they made no impact they wouldn't matter! :twocents:

We need them all, big and small. The NRA has its place as does other 2A foundations. Smaller .orgs can't match NRA, and if they ever got to the point they could who's to say it would be any different?

:yeah: the more support the better

Some are starting to question whether 5 million members is even a current number or a number of all time members... but even if it is current, there are many more gun owners that aren't in the NRA. They will be the 'voters' you speak of when the issue comes to a head.
Maybe not in this court, but eventually some SCOTUS is going to 'reinterpret' the decisions like Nunn that made the NRA so aggressive. A left leaning SCOTUS or a rogue vote by a right leaning justice could greatly change the way we own guns.
I am not a fan of the NRA but I love my guns and I hope I can pass them down someday.

North’s convictions were vacated and overturned in 1991.
He is not a felon.

Only because his felony actions were pardoned by one of the people his actions benefited most.

Maybe they can get Gary Busey to replace North as president. He seems about right for the clown show the NRA has become. They need to clean up their house before they lose their nonprofit status.

No argument here. The Russian spy stuff really sealed their fate for me.

NRA gave 30 million dollars to Candidate Trump in 2016. NRA is a gun manufacturing lobby group claiming to fight for your rights. No one is gonna come take your guns, they stoke fear and spread misinformation. Your membership dollars end up filthy rich politicians pockets and they fight for laws to change so gun manufacturers can sell more small arms to middle east countries and other 3rd world countries.
-
There is a lot about your statement that is probably correct. Saying no one wants to take away your guns is not correct.
-
Yes there are certain people who think they should take guns from everyone but practically that could never happen. What police force would feel comfortable telling a gun lover to give them up. There are police chiefs in our state who say they wont even enforce the most recent legislation, which was really dumb but that's another topic. You think they would get on board with ceasing of guns ? No way, total chaos and civil war would break out. People already get mad about having to wait a day or a week for a gun background check to clear. I couldn't imagine taking guns from those people.

They will not come door to door. The will regulate ownership rights into oblivian. Incrementalism is the the key... Never say never... The past is proof you are wrong.

All you have to do is listen to the platform of numerous gun hating Democratic candidates and listen to gun hating democrats in the house to know how important it is to have the NRA supporting pro-gun candidates. :twocents:
