Headed to Westport in the morning for a couple days. Want to give the jetty a try. Only interested in catching some bass. Any pointers? best tides, inside or outside better, That sort of thing

It gets a lot harder to walk/climb about 1/2 way out. The rocks get bigger and covered in slime and bird poop. It’s really snaggy as well. I think the inside is best for bass but not a expert. Good luck!

Good luck Plugger! You going our for Halibut?
-
No on the halibut. Just a little family gathering. Doing an albacore trip in Sept. Figured I will have a couple hour's in the morning to give it a shot. I heard there is a dock that goes out quite a ways that gets fished, anyone ever seen bass caught from it?

Fished it yesterday with my son in-law for 3 hrs. Ended up with 9 bass between us. Nothing big. couple pounds maybe. Saw a few others caught and a few lings. They were not that big either, 20 to 22 inchers I would guess. That is some tough walking. Top wasn't to bad but getting down to the water was a little tough.

Nice Plugger, sounds kinda fun!

I do way better on the bass with the lightest jig you can fish. 1/4 oz

Yes, I have always done better on the bass suspended. That is how I started but wasn't having any luck. Put on a 1/2 blade bait, winged it out there as far as I could, let it sink all the way to the bottom. The current was strong enough that I could jig it and let it swing without having to reel much and could swing it all the way until it was parallel with the jetty. I got 7 of the 9 doing that.
