Mentioned in another post, but thought I would start a new thread. During the upcoming spring season while you are all out there chasin' those turkeys, you might want to consider Under Armour heat gear base layer, or cold gear if conditions warrant...you know ...sitting in a snow bank.....or any other brand of tight fitting under garment.
"Spend more time enjoying your friends around the campfire at night telling tales :cmp1:, rather than in the camper hunting for ticks :hunter:....lol." :bdid:
The Preceeding Has Been A Public Service Announcement....LOL.
-
I think this is a better advertisement to use underarmour....
Wear under armour before this happens...
LOL :yike: :yike:
-
I also use this stuff..you can find it a WalMart or Cabelas...
Has Permethrin and Duranon in it..
Spray on clothes let dry good for two weeks..
I have been using it for years and know ill effects...just and itching trigger finger..LOL
-
Where under armour came from???
-
Yelp.............Wow....so that's where they got the idea.......lol.
Another visual for all of you out there in computer land...............

i've had three tick's on me the last two year's. :yike: last year reading a book and felt something tick crawling up my arm. not sure if it is from carrying the turkey's in my vest or walking. going to spray the vest down good and cloth's. Rick
-
Do they make underarmor for dogs? :chuckle: I just had to pull one off of my lab this morning!

You know its bad when you look down and you have three testicles...or one of them has legs..LMAOROFL... :chuckle: :yike:

Ticks SUCK! I absolutely hate them :mgun: I completely spray down with tick repellent when I'm out during the spring. About 10 years ago I was out hunting turkeys near Lake Roosevelt....long story short...a couple days after I got home it felt like I had water in my ear. After a few day of that I went to the doctor. Well, guess what? I had a tick attached to my ear drum! Oh yea! Ever had a shot in your eardrum. Not too bad untill the anesthetic started to wear off....The most pain I have ever been in in my life..I thought I was going to pass out! So the doc literally had to pull it off with tweezers. Since that day ticks are on my kill on sight list

That is really disgusting Jager.
I hate ticks. I was in Glacier park shooting sheep and goats last April/May and a short 100 yard walk up to the goats and I had ticks all over me. They were infested everywhere. You could look on the bushes and see them.
-
i dont turkey hunt but they're bad in the klick when im hunting there. i use under armor and spary on off and it seems to do the trick, but im not sitting on the ground calling either
-
Yeah....Klickitat County is terrible for ticks. Much worse than the Blues or NE.....at least from my experiences.
-
I hate ticks, but I hate under armour too. LOL I guess the advertisement should be sit around the campfire and tell stories or sit in your tent with a cute blonde while you search for ticks.. HEY thats a country song.
-
I have avoided ticks so far. knock on wood
-
It seems that every time I get back from turkey hunting I have at least 2 ticks on me. Usually they are just crawling around but I get a few stuck in. Just pull them out and move on. They used to bother me but not any more. I've tried tons of repelents and still use them but it doesn't seem to help. Best part about ticks is collecting a bunch and showing my wife, then set my clothes on the floor and ask her to wash them before the ones I missed crawl out. :chuckle:

Let's not forget the diseases they can give you also ... as bad as the tick is, their diseases are even worse ... thanks for following up with your great info WaCent & Yelp (now I can feel like I'm wrapped in a giant :con: LOL)!

I wish mine were that big...LOL.. :)

Looks like the one I pulled out of my buddies son a couple of years ago. It was buried like that right below the hairline on his neck. Farking hate those things. What is their point anyway?
Oh, and luvtohnt, pick up some stuff called Frontline. It's an anti flea and tick goo for dogs. You can get it at Petco or a vet, three small tubes for $40.
-
Ticks and Chiggers. Some bad bugs. I won't wear Under Armour if it resembles spandex. I'm too much of a tough guy man for that. :chuckle:
That's exactly what I thought when I first saw it and tried a pair on. After using it during deer season last fall....well, lets just say this "girlie" man won't go in the woods without it....and you know, it is under your other clothing, so no one will see it unless you plan on playing "Spiderman" in the woods....lol.
-
Now my skin is crawling!
I use Rynoskins when I hunt turkeys.
So what is the best treatment if you have one dig in? I know you don't want to break one off trying to pull it out.
-
I pick them off me all the time..If you check yourself daily especially in areas you sweat, waistbands, back of th eneck, hairline, etc..you should be able to keep them at bay. Ticks love tall grass, sagebrush, snowberry. Stay on trials with no underbrush. The best way is to use tweezers and try and pull next to skin out. SOme say heat works match, lighter...That sucks...I found this never tried it but it looked cool...

Now I'm getting ticky *censored*!!!

...You just jinxed yourself. One is going to crawl into your ear while you are sleeping tonight.... :chuckle:

WTF! :yike:

I use this if I get the little suckers on me..... http://www.tickedoff.com/ .... works good on the dogs too. :twocents: :twocents:

..... And the one testi with legs is purple. :yike:

These seem to work if you have one dug in. Like I said in the other topic, kids seem to like the stickers over knives, tweezers, fire, etc. :chuckle:
-
If cover them with vaseline, enough that they can't breath they will back out as well. I have a scar on my chest from a Goldendale turkey hunt about 10 years ago. I had to drive home with the head broke off in my chest and had to dig it out with a sharp knife. Nasty!!!
-
I tried to get a tick to back out of my dog once. nothing worked. when I yanked it out with pliers he yelped. Made sure I got the head. I just spray my pant legs with mosquito spray, seems to work well.
-
had two this year. both at the Refuge. now i'm itching. Rick

7 on me the first day out, don't think I should have been on hands and knees crawling around in the sage looking for sheds when I should have been hunting turkey
