Title: Dirt bike use in the Blues?
Post by: Karl Blanchard on May 14, 2019, 12:39:58 PM
Pretty new to the dirt bike and general orv use and rules. So my question is can I putter around the Lick Creek and Mtn View unit road system or does my bike have to be street legal? Heading over this weekend to look for a Turkey or some bears and there is always some snow drifts that my truck doesn't like. Thought I'd take the bike to get around on vs the truck

There are ATV trails that the forest service put in 56 miles or so in the lick creek area. After you get so high, you can use the main roads. Mountian view has no interior roads or trails for atvs. You can get maps that detail the ATV system from the forest service.

I'd get one with a highway use license plate

Looking at the interactive use lap it looks like majority of the main roads are open to motorbikes

Also I think all of the wilderness trails are open too  :o  :stirthepot:

Well if it's not legal they will have to catch me to give me a ticket! I've been clocked at over 13mph on that bad boy! 8)

look at your onyx Karl, it gives all the breakdown when you click on a road system.  And I got the word today we aren't legal down there with our tracked side by side unless there is a foot of continous snow!

I’ve hunted that area my entire life and have never had an issue with my non street legal bikes. I currently ride my Honda atc up there. That being said I have seen people get popped for being not street legal. All depends on what roads your on and what Leo you run into.
