Just got my 2017 Colorado high country buck back from the taxidermist. This hunt was awesome and it kicked my ass. Though I trained pretty good for it but hunting at 12,000'-12,500' in elevation will kick your butt after a couple days. I saw bigger bucks but i didn't think I would be able to get them out of there. This was a solo hunt.
View from camp. The bucks were up and over the ridgeline in the upper lefthand corner of the picture.

Breakfast at 11,900' on my way up to the deer.

Nothing wrong with that buck.
-
I like him!
Great job!
-
i'm not seeing pics
-
Is that the synthetic velvet? Or were you able to save his? Great looking deer and I like the mount!
-
Thats the original velvet. If you see close ups, there are some areas that got banged up or rubbed off a little when he fell and the pack out.,
-
Beautiful country, love the high country. I'd definitely thump that buck! Looks like great bear country, did you see any up there?
-
Nice buck
-
That looks like an awesome hunt. Very nice buck.
-
Looks great. Cool character not your cookie cutter muley
-
One question
Is that over the counter or permit
-
Not over the counter. Rifle hunt takes quite a few points to draw.
-
congrats!
-
Nice Buck and a sweet mount!

Great looking buck! I too have a CO velvet buck on the wall

I stopped in Utah on the way home. Had Monarch Mountain Taxidermy mount it. They do awesome work on everything they do. They are doing a cougar rug for my now. Great shop.
