yes it does. Last time I drew quality elk I drew a cow tag and multi season elk. The state gets you coming and going. Grats on a spectacular tag!
-
Oh wow...Glad to follow along! Congratulations on the bull tag!! It sure is a treasure!!
PS, if you have any ideas on the West Bar tag, my daughter drew it as well. Open to advise!!
-
Guy posted a great bull last year from this hunt. Masher bull

Congrats on a world class tag. Please send pics and stories.

Congrats!!! I'll be over there that week after with the muzzy tag. Good luck.

Cool that a member drew this. I hope to see a pic or two.

Page 12 of the regulations... "If you were selected for a special permit in error or if you are not able to participate in the hunt due to illness or deployment, you can contact the Wildlife Program at (360) 902-2515 to request having your points restored."
I would consider you being drawn for the cow tag being and "error". Seams like it would be too smart to have an "=if(" statement in their algorithm for drawing. I don't know but maybe its worth a shot to see if they would re-instate the points on your cow tag... :dunno:

2Many, you tell us of your success, get us all giddy for the story & pics, and no story or pics.
I feel like I've got bluebal-!
-
I talked of success?
I don't remember that but I did have an epic rut filled trip to EyeDaHo the second half of September.
Passed on bulls waiting for Mr Big to sniff up the cows on my side of the herd but no luck.
Saw bulls mounting cows and had the Montana Decoy bring one up hill from 250 yards to 10.
I feel like I got Blackbal-!!!!
Best rut action I've ever seen and I came home with a quiver full.
-
Congrats and can't wait to hear the story and see the pics.

This one is slightly more abreviated and drawn out.
I got a tag and I am stoked!
Thanks for the info I will let you know how scouting goes.
I got my bull and will post pics when my son comes over.
I am guessing that based on the spacing between posts we should have pics or a story in November and pics or the story in December. Hopefully we get pics and the story all together in the next post.
Just giving you the business Joseph. :chuckle: Looking forward to hearing your story and seeing some pics when you get the time. I am guessing this hunt took time away from other things and you are playing catch up.
-
While we wait...I remember being able to get a post out "buck down" from a hill on the farm, but could not get a picture to load. Firefighter4607 called me and said the people are getting restless on the site. So, I drove all the way into town where signal was a little better and did my duty to get the people of Hunt WA a pic. This is crazy!!! I love the Colockum, and would love to hear about hunter success and see a pic! C'mon man! :chuckle:
-
Definitely following
Excited to hear and see

Just to be clear, I think most folks here are wanting to see what you got now, not get a review on how well the meat tasted with Christmas Dinner!

Ok first I want to thank everyone on this forum that helped me out, and have made some friends because of it. also a huge thanks to my buddy's that showed up to camp to help scout and of course my two boys who were there the whole time and with me during hunt and pack out. I started by scouting many times during the summer made camp 10 days before season. Was there the whole time scouting during the days prior to hunt trying my best not to mess with the bow hunters. only found 1 huge masher bull during theses days and a bunch of ok nice bulls learning the country and talking to almost every bow hunting camp up there and that's a lot of camps. All of them were cooler than *censored* all welcoming me and giving much needed intel, thanks to all of you crazy @#$%ers. The opener my youngest and a buddy started at light got back after dark and only saw 2 small bulls, figured by onx tracker we went 15 miles. my oldest and buddy scouted other areas. 2nd day pretty much say but diff area. Now I'm getting a little worried, so 3rd morn before light went up up up bugles all around. I called in a nice bull had safety off the bull just behind a tree I had a great 30 yard shot and pulled Triger. CLICK what. pulled bolt back and no round in chamber WHAT. my boy started to laugh at me. the bull walks out from behind tree was a nice 6x6 but not the bull I thought he was. The elk gods were lookin after me or something? let him walk away. UP UP UP by know 9:30 time to take a break dangling our legs over a shale cliff listening to a bull at the bottom screaming out comes 3 cows in a hurry around 800 to 900 yards down at the bottom of a stand of timber, around a min later this bull walks out the boy ranged it at 650 yards on my belly I go, gave a bugle he stopped. Turned the huskemaw turret to 650 no wind touched off the 338 win mag. ELK DOWN. just below us another bull pops out were glassing him when I look over and see the bull I just shot is back up I sent another round down and this time he did not get back up. just getting down to him and the pack out kicked our buts but this hunt has been one of the most epic fun hunt my boys and I have had. THANKS again every one.
-
nice bull, congrats
-
wow nice elk and good story. Those antlers are sweeeet.
-
Sounds like an awesome hunt! Any measurements taken yet?
-
No at taxidermy will be there for quit a while said they have to dry for 4 to 6 months for accurate score?
-
The drying period is 60 days. The taxidermist should allow you to take the horns home. Then bring them back once he’s ready to mount.

Awesome bull
-
Now that's making the most out of a tag. Beautiful bull, congrats!
-
Great story Mr. W.
That is one bad bruiser! A lifetime hunt and memory for sure!
I’ve watched some of the biggest bulls of my life walk through and the crosshairs of my scope in the clockum. Such a hard tag to get, I am thrilled for you to have been blessed to have the time and effort to fill it!
I may have missed the post on it, but does anyone know if Joe got his cow points back?
A giant congratulations to you and your team on punching that tag!

I would definitely bring the horns home until the taxidermist needs them. They are probably perfectly safe. But When I had my Dayton bull mounted the taxidermist passed away. Fortunately he told me to hang onto the horns until he needed them. I was also very fortunate to get my cape back. Others weren't so lucky. I know of another taxidermist shop that burn down and another that had several mounts stolen. If the horn are in your possession stuff may still happen. But at least you will have it on your control.
-
no did not get cow pts back had to eat 22 years. Ya that's prob a good idea to bring home.
-
Ugggggg.... eating 22 points. Can’t hurt to take it to DFW and plead your case.....
In any event, even if they tell you to pack sand, it hurts less having that big boy on the wall :IBCOOL:
-
Dandy bull
