Howdy - Lookin to head over to Twisp area for fall black bear from Northwest corner (about 3.5 hour drive.)
Been reading about low deer herds and high predator populations. Worth my time? Or should i just stick to Baker area?
Thanks ahead of time.

There's plenty of bear over there. I am sure the ungulates could use all the help they can get.

Thanks, man! That's about all i needed to be persuaded. Never been out that way, always nice to see some new country.

Find the berries and you will find the bear in that country.  If the fruit is ripe you can also hunt above any orchards with pretty good success.....may even knock on some orchardist doors for access.

Every bear I have seen in the Methow, during "Deer" season, has been near a drainage of some type. The only exception (so that blows out my theory) was on top of Baldy Mountain, :chuckle:
Falls creek area had tons of sign, also had Grizzly tracks so keep your eyes open.

Yea buddy! Bear sign is a good tip to start on since i'm going in blind. Trying to map some good water sources for the animals and some decent places to glass. About all i can do right now!
OnX should have a bar setting - Tool for locating good local bars just in case the bears don't come out to play. :chuckle -

As for located Bars, there is only one you should hit, Three Fingered Jacks. Can't miss it in downtown Winthrop.
If you search for stories by "Idabooner", you will get a good tale of history and "cowboy medicine" performed by the patrons of Three Fingered Jacks,
:chuckle:

Thanks again! I'll lookup the stories and try and make a point to stop in. Appreciate all the insider info!
