Have a friend that moved to Alaska, want to make a black bear trip up there.
He lives near Anchorage, has a 25 foot aluminum boat. Id have a place to stay and food for most part.
What im looking for is info or tips on planning a trip like that. Plan on flying.
Those who have gone or done something similar, what do you suggest or found helpful.
Getting gear there, shipping stuff back, time of spring you have gone or any little tips. It will be next year, i was just thinking about it and started a list of cost, tags ect. Figured here is as good of place to start as any for first hand tips.

I believe Randy Newberg has a few videos and podcast about hunting bear in Alaska. Maybe that would be helpful for you?

Check the regs foe that area to see if it is a permit area for non residents. Some areas up there have gone to it.

Much of that area is over the counter. Head and hide or head and meat is required to take depending on date and unit. You’ll need an out of state resident license and metal locking tag as well as checking in the skull to fish and game once you kill a bear. Get some caribou meat sacks as Alaska game bags suck and flies can lay eggs right through them. Shipping meat back, you can do just like a carry one. Fred Meyers in anchorage or wasilla will sell insulated cardboard boxes on the cheap. Totally worth it and and fun. Good luck.
Citric acid spray (lemon juice) helps keep the flies off.
Sow with cubs is illegal to take.
PS...bring a predator call.

Thanks a lot
That’s what kind of tips I was looking for. I will look into that.
I got a game pamphlet sent in mail today. Biologists thought I was kinda odd the fact I wanted a actual pamphlet. “Sir, you know we have a web site”

ADFG has a great website for various hunts. Best of luck man. Alaska rules.
