i picked up an 89 big bear 350 4x4 off craigslist. got it started, goes forward and backwards, all is good so far, until... I took off the skid plate under the transfer case and it was caked with oil and dirt, cleaned off the u joint and yoke, and best i can find is that the seal in the transfer case went bad. so not i have it up on blocks, and disconnected the rear shock, am ready to take off the swing arm, but... once i remove the two sides that hold the swing arm on, can i pull the rear end straight off or is there more to this project. my plan is to pull the rear end straight out, and then remove the 4 bolts that connect the transfer case and drop the transfer case out so i can split that to fix this seal. seems like a lot of work for a $3 seel, but i want it to be a good functioning machine. so i guess im asking for advice or been there done that ideas, am i going about this correctly?

I can't help you, but I wonder if youtube could be your friend.
People post crazy repairs.
Good luck.
Edit: I youtubed it and lots of repairs posted there.
