Heading up to hunt Alberta beginning of October and looking to put together a basic decoy list( geese and ducks) that will fit back of truck and a single guy can haul in areas hunting.
Some field and slough hunting.I ve hunted Saskatchewan previously but was mostly pass shooting.

If you're not bringing a trailer I would bring socks and silos. For the sloughs a couple dozen mallard floaters and 5 or 6 mojos.

Have 2 doz snow socks and a doz Canadian. ( that enough?) Need to pick up a few mojos
Have a doz mallard decoys for sloughs.
Worth picking up a 1/2 doz full bodied duck and geese decoys too for field or socks and shells enough?
thanks

I wouldn't buy any full bodies and buy 5 dozen canada silos and mojos. I guess it depends on what you're really trying to go after. If you want to target snows you'll need more snow decoys if you just want to shoot a lot of anything then go canada silos and mojos. You won't have a problem getting those to come in.

Definitely as mentioned I would increase the spread size of silos. Easy for a solo pack in and out and it limits the bulk mess in the bag of your truck. I think we had used 12 dozen silo ducks. Had 36 dozen goose and 70 dozen snows. 6 spinners.

I agree, if you have to fit everything for the trip in the back of a truck then full bodies wouldn't be on my list. I would spend all my money on socks for sure, either Canadians or snows. For me, it would be Canadians as I don't own or have any desire to buy a million snow decoys, 55 spinners and a 1500 watt surround sound calling system.

Did you feel like the duck silos helped? I always find my best duck decoy being a goose decoy. Just thought I would ask incase the guy is trying to save a couple bucks. He seems to be a far way off of the amount of decoys you brought haha.

I got a buddy that hunts up there a lot I'll ask him, I know he shoots those cranes but not sure if he uses a decoy for them or not.
Also I think he uses goggles for his dog, for those cranes

Good morning Tom, I am headed over to our new lease next week. I will have a good number of Goose shells, duck decoys and I have 6 mojo's. If you are headed up on 89 you are more then welcome to stop in and grab them. I also think I have all the answers to our northern property. Its birds yes but big game no. Looking forward to catching up with you and Miss Rosie this season.

The last couple years we've gone to using just goose dekes in the field, even if we're targeting ducks.

No need for full body ducks. goose decoys make the best duck decoys for field hunting. just get as many spinners as you can.
