I am surprised this hasn't been started yet! No deer for me yet, but working on it.
Good luck to each of you and I hope your aim is true!
Like the title says, post 2019 deer here (doesn't have to be just bucks, does are trophies too!).
-
OK I’ll get her started. Very limited time to hunt this year so first legal buck was in order so I have some meat. Opening day buck
-
 way to get it started, congrats and nice buck!
-
:yeah:
Nice work!
-
First buck posted gets a prize!! Not sure what the prize is, or who is giving it out.... 😝😝, good job!!
-
Going to miss out on the season this year so post up the pictures! Good luck to you all

Good work elkrack

Beautiful country up there wish I could be there more often
-
Nice going elkrack! Congratulations!
-
Nice Buck congrats
-
Great buck to start it off!
-
Opening day BT double-header. Shot him first, after waiting for him to come into range, with 7 other deer milling around. Perfect broadside shot at 23 yards. Shot her about 10 minutes later.
-
Very minimal buck activity in my area this year. Only one mule deer buck who hasn't presented on camera for two months. A few whitetail bucks that also disappeared. Given those circumstances I decided to take a whitetail doe yesterday morning. Ate some backstrap last night that was among the best I ever had. Will post a pick when I get a chance later.
-
That’s an awesome evening WW
-
Yes sir elkrack. Great job on your success!
-
and the season is upon us!!!!!!!!
-
Lets see if pic posts. Freezer trophy. Very limited buck activity from cams but many, many does somehow. Watched her for 45 minutes to ensure the fawn was in fact with a separate doe. Had to wait for some attempted suckling on the other doe to be sure. When field dressed no milk or any change to utter indicating she had no fawn this year. Shot at 10 yards, double lung, ran 50 yards then kicked it out. Tag was taped to right back foot so I could drag by the lower legs. Would have loved a buck but with such limited activity and limited hunting time I decided it was best to just get something in the freezer. Good luck to everyone!
-
Nice! Just saw a picture of a dandy, I’m sure it will wind up on here soon.
-
the buck ive been watching this summer hasn't been on camera since August 12th... but he came in last night!
-
That thing is cool!
-
That is a cool rack with lots of character. Awesome when you get them on camera preseason and seal the deal. What a tasty looking doe OutHouse, Congrats meat in the freezer!
-

Awesome deer. Technically three main beams I guess? Would be a cool bavarian mount.

Thanks and yes oh so tasty. Had some backstrap the other night the family loved it. Its all quartered and partially de-boned in a cooler at my house still. Just got a vacuum sealer from my mom so have some work tonight.

They're all on the same base. I stripped the velvet and will do a euro mount. Should be cool!

2 days left hoping to add this monster eastern Wa. buck to this list before he goes nocturnal :yike: :yike:    Any guesses on score ? Doesn't really matter he would go up front on my trophy wall.
-
130ish
-
I’d agree right around 130”.
-
I’d agree right around 130”.
agreed. Young buck. Would be a stud in a few years.
-
I agree with that. He's three at best from the angle of the photo. Still got big Bambi eyes. He's going to be a monster if he lives long enough.
-
Agreed, 3 years old. 4 at oldest. Probably 130”. He has the potential to reach the 160”+ range in 2-3 years.
-
I usually don’t post photos on here, but I like to see people’s deer and figure most people on here feel the same. So here is the buck my dad got yesterday.
-
Congrats to your dad. Nice buck
-
And here is mine.
-
Nice work. Spot and stalk or ground blind?
-
Nice bucks!👍🏻

Some great deer being posted!! Well done folks!! Keep em coming.

Finally. Hard horned. Nice buck
-
Dandy bucks! Congrats!
-
If one shot kill is sharing I guess I will too.
-
Nice work. Spot and stalk or ground blind?
Both our bucks were spot and stock. So hard to do in open country like that. Dad got real close and shot his at 30 yards. I had to shoot mine at 62 because I ran out of terrain to hide in.

My kids deer.

Nice work np205. Great to see someone shooting deer in the "right" spot! (forward of the crease, through the shoulder muscle, in the notch of the "V").

Guess mods can move this to trail cam pics :hello: had him at 70 yrds decided to pass :dunno: lets hope he will make it another year or 2 and grow to full masher status :yike: :yike: lol

Not the trophy shot I wanted, but a blessing none-the-less. This little fella decided his short life had been long enough, and jumped out of the brush into my left rear fender. I was braking hard so not sure how fast I was going on impact, but there's a grapefruit-sized dent in my bumper (thank God it wasn't worse...) and almost no meat loss. He was dead on impact and had nothing but a broken front shoulder and a little bruising on one of the hams, so I guess it was a headshot on my bumper :dunno:
Walking away with 20-ish lbs of finished meat. Soooo cheers to 2019 game meat in the freezer!

Thanks to a multiseason tag and @bustedoldman, I was able to take down my first archery deer! I couldn't be happier!
-
Filled my tag in the first week of the season and just got around to posting. I have been watching this buck for months and it finally paid off. I have harvested many whitetails, but this is my first mule deer.

You seem to have the muzzy season figured out!
-
Thank you! The cold front definitely helped on this hunt, it seemed to keep the bucks up moving later than normal. I do love muzzle loader season!
-
Got it done Tuesday evening. My muzzy whitetail spot was a little slower than years past. Feeling lucky I filled the freezer. Kinda cool he’s missing his right antler.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191003/dc81d37b1abebf8a7cf021b777ad7533.jpg)

How come there isn't a post up about what species and gender everyone shot? Normally there's on stickied so that at the end of the season some clown can come out of left field saying "Oh look, whitetails are still the hardest deer to hunt" or some BS like that :chuckle:
I always liked looking at the breakdown of whats been killed. Normally that thread is stickied right under this one so I figured that right here is a good spot to ask about it.

I agree. Looks like a Christmas tree of deer hunting goodness. I should try decorating our Christmas tree this way this year. I'm sure the wife will be cool with that.

I'm sure that would be a great Christmas tree idea :)
The meat cooled real nice in the breeze next to the river.

Last day Muzzleloader buck. Solo hunt. Spotted three deer feeding along the base of some rim rock. Spent the next half hour hustling to get into position before they fed up through a saddle. Got up into the cliffs, relocated them, dropped my pack and army crawled through the grass into position. 75 yard broadside shot. The 300 grain SST hit it’s mark and I watched him go down in sight. First Muley buck and first Muzzleloader kill. Feeling very grateful!

My plan to hold out for a big deer lasted a day and half.
-
After a terrible start to my season with multiseason tag I was finally able to make it happen. Had prior commitments for opening weekend of rifle, but just so happens to be in Dayton 😁. Naturally I brought my gear. Was able to slip away for a couple hours Saturday evening. This was most likely going to be my last chance to hunt deer In Washington for the rest of the year. I picked a spot of public land on onx and headed out. The hike in was miserable, but just as expected there were deer up top in the wheat. Found this little guy staring me down at 168yds and I made a quick off hand shot. He bucked and didn’t make it far! I love putting young whitetail in the freezer! This makes my 20th consecutive year filling my tag in Washington (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191014/b3c3ce34bb862d65ca58554e62c8d82c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191014/4e364752ccb3606b46750075c30906be.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191014/e74ccc8cafffad3b7de5be503789c1ce.jpg)

Tender BT and WT for the freezer. Well done guys!
-
Went down to Pomeroy for the opening weekend. Put in a lot of miles walking and stalking. Deer everywhere, mostly Mulies, but couldn’t find a legal one until noon. Spotted this whitetail bedded down at the top of a draw and snuck up to about 230 yards from him. One shot from my 308 (DPMS Recon) and he tensed up and just laid his head down. No chase! Freezer is full and his head is boiling in a bucket as we speak. Good year!

Not much to say about my buck this year. Finally (after 15 years) managed to put one down while hunting with my dad. First big game to have ever shot non-solo. Burned my multi-tag this year on a spike, but dont matter. That pops was there made it all worth it.

Not much to say about my buck this year. Finally (after 15 years) managed to put one down while hunting with my dad. First big game to have ever shot non-solo. Burned my multi-tag this year on a spike, but dont matter. That pops was there made it all worth it.
At least it's a good size spike, it's not a tiny barely legal spike. Congrats!

This is my wife's very 1st deer.
4 point muley.
It was her 2nd year hunting and this was on the 7th day of our 9 day stay. I was just about over a ridge about 60 yds away when i heard the shot. She had never shot at anything except targets before this. No buck fever for her! Perfect shot right behind the shoulder. 8) Went about 40-50 yards downhill and wadded up in the brush. I packed out 3/4 the meat and she took all of my gear and the head for the 2 mile hike. Went back the next day and got the rest.
She used a Weatherby Camilla in 6.5 Creedmore with a 129gr bullet. The bullet went in and took a left turn and ended up in the rear ham (not sure if it went through the guts as we did not gut it out. Also when we were processing the meat we found what appeared to be a shotgun pellet in the front leg muscle...Weird!
Proud husband for sure!

38 outside spread. I wish I got more pics, like ATLs and stuff. But I took a slide down the mountain following his blood and as excited as I was, i didn't pay much attention to footing. All said and done, 3 broken ribs dampened my day right quick. Pics took second place to the pain Unfortunately.

Here is my story. I gave up hunting 20 years ago when my career demanded all of my time. My son was 9 then and we never shared a day in the woods. I tried to pick it up a few times since but didn't. Over last winter, we were at his house and he said, Dad, I wish we'd have gone hunting when I was a kid. No time like the present, so we started planning. We purchased him a rifle, went to the range, bought licenses and finally set out this year. I got lucky and a spike walked right up on me by 11am opening day. I made an amazing 25 yard shot, no, no, hold your applause, and put meat in the freezer. Today, though, he tagged this bad boy after putting in the time, making a one shot kill and boy I couldn't be prouder.

Nice deer everyone. On another note, has this been a light year for deer harvest? I know a lot of folks who were totally skunked, most not even finding a legal deer at all.

Normal season so far in My opinion. Maybe a tick or two on the better side. (blacktail)
-
Nice deer everyone. On another note, has this been a light year for deer harvest? I know a lot of folks who were totally skunked, most not even finding a legal deer at all.
Seems about normal to me based on the deer I've seen and where.
-
I've had zero hunting days this fall but have probably seen more legal deer just doing normal life than I do most seasons. Had a pair of bucks chasing a doe and each other around the yard yesterday for about 45 minutes. Mighty tempting.
-
Nice deer everyone. On another note, has this been a light year for deer harvest? I know a lot of folks who were totally skunked, most not even finding a legal deer at all.
It's always tough hunting on public land. I saw 3 legal mulie bucks, a handful of 2x2s and spikes, three legal whitetail bucks, and over a hundred does. I think that it is just challenging and you really have to hunt hard to find a good buck. I don't ever hunt private land because I love the challenge of public land hunting.

It sure does but he’s usually swinging it like a hammer! 😃 The little 6.5-284 Norma I built a few years back is violent and lethal on deer though need to do something different on bullet choice. Just under 200yds in the neck and the only thing holding him together still was hair. :'(

last weekend buck, end of a great season

After having friends visit from over seas during early modern I was only able to hunt this last weekend. Pretty glad I get to walk out my front door with a rifle on my shoulder and hunt. Got this little guy around noon yesterday and had my in-law carry him on the handlebars of his bike back home.

2019 rifle. Had to drag him out of a steep ravine. I took off my pack and orange to do the dirty work. Don't yell at me lol.

Yes, the bullet hole was the “deer” I shot. I don’t know if it was the moon phase, warm weather, domestic dogs chasing deer all over the place or a combination of the 3, but I barely saw any deer at all. There definitely wasn’t any sign the rut was kicking in. Two spikes and a fork horn over 9 days was all I saw for bucks. I guess that means next year will be a turnaround year.
I didn’t even think about the wild ID, thank you.

Had a few days to sneak out of the shop for a hunt to Montana. Cold as hell the first couple of days with a windchill of -30, but it didn't slow the bucks down. Passed on a few and then me and a friend spotted this buck from over 1500 yards away checking some passing-through does. Able to get much closer for a look at his headgear and was delighted to see how good he really was. Got the whole hunt on video and the coolest thing was seeing the bullets trajectory through the vapor trail on its way to the boiler room. Congrats to everyone else on their success!!! Love seeing all the pics! -Joel

After high buck and general season, I was finally able to connect on a great buck during the late season in the San Juan Islands. Filled my second deer tag up there as well. Extremely blessed to be able to go on this great hunt and to fill my freezer. Had a great time hunting with Bob33 and the rest of the crew!

Awesome island blacktail!!! What’s the story ?
-
Awesome island blacktail!!! Whats the story ?
Thanks! I hunted the same section of thick salal and steep mossy cliffs three days in a row and had two unfilled deer tags in my pocket. At one point on the first day, I had four deer within 30 yards at one time, all unconcerned with my presence. Two of the four were spikes, but I decided to try to hold off for a branched-antlered buck (it turns out that the larger of the two spikes was probably at least a 3.5 year-old buck, so I was kicking myself later that night for not taking the shot). Saw 6 total that day.
The second day was similar to the first in terms of deer activity, but towards the end of the day, I saw this buck through the fog and 75 yards below me on a lower cliff bench. I could only see the buck's head and the top of his back, and when I crept forward for a better shot, he took off on a run. I tried following but had to climb down several cliff benches and downed timber before I could get to where I saw him last. I followed a deer trail along the steep hillside, but nothing ever materialized.
On day 3, I was working along the same cliff faces when I saw bits of deer hair through some cedar boughs on a lower bench. Unfortunately the deer saw me first and took off. I decided to try and follow after them (I think there were two), and ended up in the same situation - trying to climb down cliff benches and over deadfalls to catch up. Eventually, I found myself on the same deer trail that I was on the previous day, and figured that if I kept following the deer, I would catch them as the trail wrapped around to the other side of a big gully. Staring down at the ground analyzing tracks, I heard a rustle in the bushes and looked up to see this buck munching on salal along the trail ahead of me. I ducked behind a Douglas fir, checked my scope and safety, and popped my head back around. The deer looked up at me and I took the shot before he could decide to leave the country. I really didn't want to try and carry him up the cliffs and through the woods to the nearest road, so instead I drug him down the big gully to the edge of a lake, to retrieve a bit later in the day. I hiked back up, loaded up my gear, and started hiking back up the cliff. 100 yards and three minutes later, I looked over and saw a "doe" staring at me 75 yds away. Another shot with the 11-87 and I had my second deer down. It turns out that the "doe" was actually a 1.5 year-old buck, but his antlers hadn't erupted yet (delayed growth with these malnourished island deer). Boned-out and packed the antlerless deer back to camp, got a boat, and rowed out with a buddy to retrieve the larger buck (hence the boat picture). Just finished processing both and ended up with a total of 45 lbs. of meat in the freezer. Almost equivalent to a single mainland deer!
-
Good job ! The terrain looks fun to hunt !
-
Congratulations! Love the pic of you and the buck in the boat. The last shot is calendar material. Wonderful photography.

Got it done with my 83 year old family friend, Bob, this year. Bob took me on my first whitetail hunt 6 years ago, but was recently diagnosed with cancer. Luckily we were able to hunt together this year. We hunted the early general rifle season in my apple orchard on 10 different days and got a young buck. Lots of quality time watching turkeys fly in, listening to pheasants and coyotes, and watching deer in the rain.

A quality tag punched for my brother.

Got my second one ever this year. Couldn't manage to get out early in the season, but managed to get out and scout a new(ish) area Saturday and Sunday before the opener about 3/4 mile from my last successful season. After 2 days of scouting and heading in the morning of my hunt I had seen zero people, which is already a win for Western Wa.
Got in to where I planned to be by about 6:30, had a beautiful sunrise before the clouds and wind picked up making it a bit colder than I had planned. A doe trotted by about 9 which warmed me up a bit, then this guy came in from the other direction about an hour later. I was cold enough from just sitting that I was shaking a little, but it was only a 40 yard shot. After the shot he calmly walked off leaving me confused as to how I could have missed. I could still see him walking for about 30 yards before I lost him in the trees. Decided to wait it out for a bit before checking where he was standing when I shot. After that I realized he wasn't going far and had actually dropped right about where I lost him in the trees.

No, that is the one I got about 3/4 mile from this one a few years ago. It was a good way to get him out, but real challenging getting that bike back up on two wheels.
I guess I need to update my info, I'm in Kent now, so no buck bike rides along the waterfront.

A little late, but a little doe we bagged the day before Thanksgiving in northern Idaho. Quote of the day "she looked a lot bigger in the brush" :dunno: :chuckle: She be little, but darn tasty. We saw quite a few does on the run and watched a couple toeheads chasing each other in the sunshine, but not many bucks this year. Lots of WA license plates and wolf traps though! Went out one day and it was snowing -- hoped that might get them moving, but instead, we spooked a whole herd of elk and just watched in awe as they took off. Seeing all the animals makes being out so much fun! :)

Nice work!! Congrats
