Title: Farms on the Wynoochee
Post by: ljsommer on September 12, 2019, 09:11:46 AM
Anyone had any luck working with farmers to harvest an elk in 648? I have the antlerless late season archery and the mitigation fields seem to be a bust from my scouting and camera work as well as my early season archery hunt (which blows my mind by the way - that habitat is incredible).

I am thinking about knocking on doors and I have one in particular that seems like a good place to start but I was curious if anyone had ever had any luck with that.

I watched a guy going in on one of the farms Saturday early
Not sure if he had permission or not

I've hunted the Nooch.

Those fields get hammered pretty hard.

Knocking on doors is your best bet. Probably should've been doing it 3-4 months ago though. Most people won't mind you taking a cow off the property.

A friend had that tag a few years ago. The farmers he talked to were not too keen on anybody hunting wherever there were any fences at all. Said they didn't want the elk spooked cause they head right through his fence and generally speaking, nobody is there to help repair. Said people offer when the fence is fixed, just don't see anyone during the winter after season and wants his fence fixed.
