Title: White river quality bull archery
Post by: marinesniper8541 on September 18, 2019, 06:27:36 AM
Got drawn for the white river quality bull elk tag and went up Saturday through Tuesday. Hunted over noble knob and government meadows, but didn't seem to find the herds. Saw an amazing 4x4 blacktail, but filled my deer tag on labor day. I did see a cow and calf on the FS 70 road where it is still asphalt. Any advice on where the herds may be in there. Hiking into noble knob put me.up at 6000 feet in elevation which may be to high for them and the area does have a good amount of fire damage. Thanks for any advice

If you were up by noble knob then your in the right area, get back up there. That's not too high, nothing is too high up there.

Fire did a number on that area. Look outside of the burn.

I did hike over to lost lake. There is a lot of sign in there, and some good runs, but the bulls were silent and didn't see any elk while I was up there.

The fire definitely did serious damage up there.

Bulls have been pretty quiet for me this year too... UNTIL TONIGHT. They are HOT right now. Stay with it man that’s an epic tag to have.

Oh nice. I went up there tonight after work and did a little evening hunt. Didn't hear them but did see a cow and calf with no bulls around and a lot of rubs telling me that they are very close to the rut

There is elk around there...but also lots of hikers and other people recreating all summer. Try to get off the beaten path.

Just keep at it, I know the white very well. If you don’t get one early season I can help you late season.

Been driving around 653 past couple days and they started going nuts earlier this week. I didnt hear a sound from them between 8am-6pm but before/after that the bulls were pretty vocal. Good luck!!

Get on little naches road off hw 410 or via. forest service road 70 then get on the Louisiana saddle trail then get on the Pacific Crest trail and hunt in that area right around where the Louisiana saddle trail and the Pacific Crest trail meet up really really good area haven't seen anything over 320 in 30 years but lots of bulls in 250 to 290 range
