I got super lucky and drew this tag this year.
We saw quite a few rams between scouting and hunting. When I saw this guy he was the biggest that we had seen and I decided to take him. I'm glad I did even though it ended the hunt early.
I will say that I didn't know much about sheep before I drew this tag, and had a lot of help before, during, and after the hunt. Just want to say thanks again to everyone that helped out!
Enjoy the pics.

I think the first sheep I ever saw as a kid was a Vulcan. It spawned a lot of dreams as a little kid. I always thought having that tag would be incredible. I’m glad to know there are still folks out there living that dream. Thank you for sharing your success. Beautiful ram.

I was pretty stoked when I heard SW had drawn the Vulcan tag this year, turned me into a creepy stalker. I was hoping it would go more than a few weeks too for more beverage meetings, but glad you got it done with an awesome old ram :rockin:

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

Good for you, what an animal!

Great job on a gorgeous ram. Looks like a 9-10 year old ram to me. Curious what the Bio aged him at?

How many points did U have when you drew this 2019 tag?
-
I never understood the strong desire to hunt sheep... But the more stories I see and photos I see the more interested I get.
Such beautiful trophies.
To the OP: great ram in a beautiful setting! I don't normally think of rams in forested areas.

I had 14 points, which is not many compared to a lot of people.

There is a lot of timber in that unit!
I was thankful to catch him in that meadow. It was raining all day and the rocks in that area get super slick when they are wet.

My closest call with death was slipping on wet lichen covered rocks!

Great looking ram, 10.5 years old, that's really good. How long are his horns.

Been applying for a "SHE" Sheep tag for years, skipped a few but put in for 2019 now have 7 points.
My dream unit would be Lincoln Cliffs. You say Why,, well? years back I was traveling through there and had a gang on a slee slope just to my right-side. HAH,, they were sliding down in the gravel towards my side to the roadside! No not all have traction like us on a hike!
One Ram had an Ear tag and must have been 12 years old at least. there were 22 in the gang/group. This was in 1999..
It's a challenging area, Desert flats, coulee's, and a very dry area & challenging at best. I will put in again for this Unit. (1)792/13 tag! + 1 tag 667/13 Ram Lincoln cliffsA(2) odds...NONE!

That’s awesome! I’ve managed to get quite a few pictures of the small rams and tons of ewes but never the big rams. Congrats!
-
