So I just picked up a ruger American 30-06 "go wild" and looking to put scope on it. It has the stock picatinny base installed. I'm looking at putting a luepold vx freedom 4-12X40 on it, my question is what rings should I use for that style rail? I was looking at the Burris zee rings medium height... what would you guys prefer?? Thanks

I've had terrible luck with Burris rings. I'd recommend leupold prw or warne's for good rings in that price range. Make sure you are torquing to factory specs  I've played with over a dozen ruger Americans and every single one was a shooter. You should have a great setup on your hands!

Both my boys have Ruger Americans in .270 and I have one in 7mm-08 and they all have Warne bases and rings.

I just purchased the go wild in the WM 300 mag because I like how it looked, need another gun like another hole in my head. I installed a Nikon 4-16x50 and warne rings did not have to use the higher height rings on it. This is my second ruger American and really like how they shoot.

These are what I ordered, they're the med.height.

Interesting, didn’t know warns was making horizontal split rings now. I like their vertically split maximas, but I’ve never had a set mount true enough to install per the instructions(I always have to leave the bottom screws loose to be able to adjust/rotate the scope before tightening everything up).
I’ve had good luck with the Burris zee rings, I especially like the quick detach rings for my guns with irons. A little cleaner looking and lighter than the warnes.
