I have a small yard backyard my old girl is done hunting and I want to get a pup, I was thinking about graveling the whole yard for easy dog crap clean up. All suggestions welcome or how it may be done.

I graveled my backyard with crushed and dogs don't like it on their feet. Have you considered a concrete run?

Is dog crap cleanup really that difficult in a small yard? I just get the shovel out and go hunting in my 2/3 acre spread.

Put a doggy door in the fence and train them to crap in the neighbors yard. Problem solved, youre welcome.

I can say this much. There are few things that my old lab loves more than to lay in the grass in the shade on a hot day. Crap pickup in grass is no harder than gravel, just a little more maintenance.

how small is your back yard?
my dog has the couch and her bed inside...but will whine at the back door to go lay in the grass outside, she loves laying in the grass.
i think grass would look better too :dunno:
if it's small...thats not much for grass maintenance.

I actually have a fairly large backyard so I'm comparing apples to oranges. Like you, I think, the point I was making was little pleasures for your old dog like a grassy shady spot are nice. Small yards are easy to upkeep.

Sorry I was just quoting you to agree with the dogs enjoying grass. My question on the backyard size was for the op.
