Title: Williams ace in the hole for remington
Post by: Samloffler on October 08, 2019, 11:41:13 AM
I've got a Remington 700 ML, the new one with the case ignition,  that I'm looking for a peep/rail combo for. Does anyone know of one? I've looked at Williams and EABCO but neither of them have one for a 700. The Williams is advertised as a rem 700/Mossberg 500 combo so I ordered it and its not even close. I'd prefer a picatiny rail vs the weaver.

I'm plenty happy with my current peep/globe set up, I'm just looking to shoot it with a scope and see what it is really capable of. There are also some opportunities for weapons restricted modern seasons around that may get my attention soon.

There must be something out there that fits? Or maybe people are just having a gunsmith still and tap them?

IF you have a length of Pic rail,  i can mill and drill it to fit.  Or i can order one and mill/drill it.

There are a billion options for a normal pic rail for a 700, that's not the issue. I've attached a picture of what Williams makes for most other ML brands.

I've been looking around for a peep sight that will go on a pic rail like you would attach a scope ring and so far only found something from XS sights, but it doesn't look nearly as robust as the Williams. Does anyone have any experience with the XS sights peeps? They make a threaded one that will accept the normal apertures.

Aaron, do you think you could mill and drill this one to work on a 700 without tearing up the ramp on the back?

Have you considered a regular rail with a NECG (Weaver Style) Peep?

This one is using a regular Warne scope base and then the QR - NECG is placed on the block.  Easily removed and a scope mounted back on.

That is about the set up I'm looking at with the XS sights peeps. Ideally, I'd like to be able to keep the peep on while the scope can come on and off. Obviously that requires a full length rail.

XS makes a short and a tall. I was thinking the short stacked on a rail would be best, but maybe not based on your pic. The tall looks about the same as your set up. What front sight are you using on there? I've got a low globe on a ramp, but not sure of the actual height.

Here are the sights I'm talking about. They sell a post that replaces the ghost rings that is threaded to accept normal apertures.

Just a regular Williams Streamlined Ramp, Williams .343 Fiber Optic, and a Fire Sight Hood.  Gives me the illusion that I am shooting through a 1X scope with a post.  I do change the Red  - Pin to a Green - Pin for better contrast on the target.

I just put on the Williams ghost sight in the rear, like it a lot.
