My 2019 Alaska bull. 62”
Story?
Ten day DIY hunt in an area I hunted once before and got a 52” bull and my hunting partner got a B&C 69” bull. We tried this hunt with archery gear first but the weather was too hot and the bulls weren’t coming to our calls even though we were seeing 4-6 bulls everyday, they were just too far off. After 8 days of watching big bulls in my binos and spotting scope a mile off I decided to grab my rifle and make a move on one after he bedded down for a mid day nap. I closed in a couple hundreds yards out and after he stood up out of his bed I shot him with my 30-06. The packout was 1.2 miles back to camp and took three days to get it all back.
Sorry my stories are boring but I’ve never been one for the ultra detailed hunting stories that read almost like a Dear Penthouse letter. There are plenty of those on here already :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Nice Bull! My buddy was drawn this year for the same tag (Douglas 108). We hunted hard for 3 days near Gillette creek/mountain, Rogers mountain, and Quinn Meadows. Only cut 1 set of fresh tracks. Any chance you’d be willing to share info on where you were seeing activity? We’d appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks in advance!

Very impressed with the amount of nice bulls taken this year. The horn growth is up this year. Having taken a moose and following every years success photos on here, I would say it’s one of the best! Congrats to all!!
-
I would say good average this year but last year had way more and better book bulls.

Those 2 bulls are great bulls. They seem to be better bulls than the other pictures I've seen this year.

Lots of nice moose this year. Beautiful bulls! I havent seen a real Masher yet hit the ground IMO. The guy with the terminal tag though. Thats getting close!

I will 100% agree with this statement. When I was a young boy I dreamed of someday going on a moose hunt. The great adventure. The bulls coming to an eerie/crazy sounding cow call. The amount of meat that i can feed to my family. All I could think of was a nice bull. Decent paddles and triple fronts. I've seen the huge masher bulls that some guys are fortunate enough to harvest. Good on them. I'm glad they had that opportunity. I am perfectly happy shooting a nice respectable 2 pt buck. So why shouldn't I be ok with shooting a nice respectable bull. This year that boyhood dream of hunting moose became a reality. I'm having the time of my life making great memories with friends and family. I know I didn't shoot the biggest bull in the unit. I know there are bulls way bigger then then the one I chose to harvest. But that doesn't matter to me. I was fortunate enough to harvest a bull that fit the boyhood dream that I had. A nice moose with decent paddles and at least 3 brow tines on one side. So if your the lucky holder of a moose tag it is your dream to fulfill. Masher or not.
-
Beautiful bull
-
Awesome bull. Definitely fulfilled that boyhood dream.

Great bulls everyone!

Amen!
Beautiful bull by the way!
I’ve shot a small one, I’ve shot a big one, I’ve shot a decent one, they all mean the same to me. Ironically the small one is on the wall, it fits. The big one is buried in the horn pile. Lol

Congratulations on killing a good looking bull.

Looks like some great bulls and hard work paying off. Congrats to all!
