Hmmm…..sorry about that.  I read the article on a news web site...not WSJ... and the map show dozens of wolf sightings on the west side including all around the Seattle area.

I will try to find the original site

The wdfw wolf sighting / reporting map has shown TONS of sightings all over the puget sound for many years.  People dont know what the hell theyre looking at.  Domestic dogs, yotes...

Pretty sure they change/edit/delete reports as they see fit.

Some folks around Duvall reported a cougar with 2 yearling kittens had killed 6 of their goats.
This was the report at first.

This was the same report a little while later.

They dont want credible sightings i guess.  I dont ever bother reporting them.  Wolves are everywhere in the northeast and they know it.

could be. 2 of them where new packs.  One just north of fan lake with 4 members that I seen. The other in Scott's valley was 5 members seen.   I’m sure they will have to get several depredations before they will are forced to confirm those packs.

I was reading a journal of a trip my grandparents took in 1949 stating, they saw a Wolf crossing the road in North Bend. I have no reason to doubt their sighting as they were both outdoorsy types from the mid-west!

I was a non-believer until very recently.  While I live and hunt the west side. I know how big coyotes get and the difference between dogs and wolves.  Saw my first one up by the volcano this year during muzzle deer season.  Made me rethink all the rumors I had heard about them being over here.  I kept putting it down to people not knowing the difference but once you see one up close there really is no mistaking what you are looking at.  I just wished it would have stuck around long enough to get a picture of.

Wolves have been spotted for years, yes some coasties see a big yote and think it's a wolf, but as others have said,"once you really see one you won't make the mistake again!"
Had a friend back in 1980's crossing the North Cascade Hiway, he saw a large animal in the road and slowed to a crawl as he got closer, when he got to it with his camaro he was looking up to see it's head, he was a avid hunter and was very surprised it was that big!
I  guess the WDFW would tell us that was the last one :yike:
