WDFW is looking for info on a large 8x8 Bull shot in Kittitas county, along First Creek, near FS 3506.
Apparently someone "accidently" shot it while deer hunting on Saturday, the 12th. Guy approached someone and told him what happened and asked if he would help him hide it. Guy refused, then called game dept. They came out, but shooter was gone and bull was buried under logs, branches and debris. They have a description of the guy, and are hoping to locate him.
They were able to salvage the meat.

I'll bet it was an accident

:bash:

Accident? What a maddening story. Hope they catch the guy what a crap thing to do and then to just leave it lie in the field.

LEO said the shooter didn't even know about that large bull elk until he saw a post on huntwa about it.

Oh man at first glance I thought it was a mule deer :bash:
-
Wdfw said 8pt? Guess they need to brush up on math as I only counted 6 on each side. :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Sucks to see a bull like that get taken out by a poacher :bash:

I have seen a couple other pictures of the bull posted on Facebook from different angles and it’s an 8

Pics or it didn't happen.

Did the shooter approach the caller from out of nowhere? If he was suspicious enough to call it in, how did he not get the vehicle and license number? :bash:

Maybe there was no vehicle visible..could of been a local guy trying to poach a pet elk and got caught so came up with a lame story....lots of that area is private now.. several houses along 3506 near first creek now..
-
im a bit surprised that WDFW didn't set on the animal to catch the guy returning after dark that day?
-
probably 40 people walk by it, half just looking for rocks. Im glad they salvaged the meat, plus it sounds like the guy knew it was reported and ran. I doubt hed return
-
Devils advocate here, but maybe, just maybe, the elk was running backwards through tall brush, so it's rack looked like a super massive whitetail buck! I've seen elk run backwards after hitting a fence before... :dunno:
-
um, no. If you cant tell the difference between an elk and a deer you should not be hunting, let alone even be in the woods.

So you're telling me I won't be finding any 350" whitetails running around kittitas county? What's even the point of hunting there then?

I know it's not funny that this animal went to waste, I just wanted to give some guys a laugh about how asinine some peoples excuses are after being caught doing something they shouldn't. I cant stand poaching or leaving an animal to waste. It seems like every year I find someone in a scenario like this and its always some BS excuse as to what happened.

They did salvage the meat.

Maybe the RP was the shooter :peep: , Not saying it was, just speculating, i mean a guy shoots this bull, flags down some random stranger and asks him to help conceal his crime, so then he has alerted a stranger to what he did? The stranger declines but the shooter still stays around and trys to hide his crime anyway all the while the stranger alerts WDFW but does not stay near or take a pic of the guy etc? :dunno:
RP is the shooter, gets scared of getting caught (after trying to conceal it) and then calls it in to cover his butt??

That's where my mind went also. Something seems off about this story.

The description of the suspect fits about 75% of the hunters in WA.
Either way poachers suck!
