Post by: FullDraw on November 01, 2019, 09:00:46 AM
Looking for advice on late archery in the Swakane GMU.  Any tips, pointers or advice would be appreciated.  Feel free to PM me.  Good luck this season.

weather is your best friend and worst enemy. It will help bring deer down out of the higher country but can also make the roads a witch to drive. Make sure to have chains and good optics.

 :yeah:
I grew up there, had a couple uncontrolled rides in my truck. If it doesn’t look slippery it still is.
Lots of people now days. Hope for snow.
I will be there the first couple days. Not spending much time in there this year

Good luck

I tried this hunt in 2010/11.  When the weather was sub zero in the mornings.  I saw many deer but the conditions would not allow for a good stalk and it was too cold not too move.  I have always wanted to try it again with some better conditions.  I am good with hiking uphill, staying out of the truck and away from people if possible.  Thanks for the info so far!

If the temps stay really low and things are frozen, you can get around but any melt or wet roads and it gets horrible. Let the binos do most of your walking if possible.

Thanks Vandeman.  I remember the narrow roads and can imagine how nasty they can get.  I have Vortex Razors HD with a Vortex Summit SS tripod.  Good glassing system for me.  I will take your advice!
