Looking for a hunting partner or a few in the area. I'm in monroe want to hunt grouse/cotton tail/ squirrel in the Markworth forest area and waterfowl in cherry valley. Both are super close to home for me. Anyone around here up for learning together or teaching? Right now I'm working with a 10/22 takedown and a mossberg 500. Spring I want to do start turkey hunting but till then just tying to put meat on the table and have a good time outdoors.

I know a little about upland bird, or pheasant rather listening to my grandpa y’all about many years ago. He was always on about a good dog breed, his favorite was springer spaniel. He used a 20 gauge for pheasant light bird shot, target load I think but he used a 870 with half choke. I’m not sure if the 500s are choke but I know the 590s aren’t. Not sure if this helps but it’s what I know.
