What brand do you use, and how do you like them?

I’ve tried them all, they are all about the same.

I have a few spares if you are in the market.

Yes I am in the market.  Leaning towards the Ladner pots to save room on a smaller boat

Mckays are probably the most popular. Jerrys Ppots are good. Ive heard good things about Ladners but never used them. Make sure to get pots with ramps instead of funnels. Also with bait tubes big enough to hold the big bait jars.

Like others, I have used just about all types. I like the McKay or SMI square pots. As stated, get ramp entrances not funnel. I had a pair of the small Ladners and they fished ok but I found they would drag across the bottom on heavy tidal movement, even with added weight. After I sold those I fished on another guys boat who had one and the same thing happened while fishing his.

It's all about weighing them down so they don't move in the current.  That and the kind of bait you use moreso than they type of pot you purchase.

This guy speaks the truth.  They should weigh a minimum of 20# if you have not much current.  I'm upgrading to 25# and an anchor and enough buoy to float it after having some fun in the San Juans last summer.

McKay pots have been the best!
