Two coyotes tried to isolate a doe from a bunch of deer. They got between her and the group. She realized her mistake. Just about the time they were going to take her, two other doe came charging at them from behind. The coyotes scattered and the hunt was spoiled. This one then set up and started howling.

My goal last year was to get a good coyote pic like this... ends up I have to carry a camera instead of a rifle to get one though! Haha Cool picture of him.

Not sure why more guys dont hunt yotes as they are really challenging and fun.

We had a doe and juvenile in the yard a couple weeks ago. A coyote showed up and mom wasn’t going to have any of it. She ran at the yote and he disappeared quickly.

Great picture Doug. I have watched the wolves separate a doe from the bunch 3-4 times, the other deer didn't fight the wolves, they just run off. I've watched the eagles do the same thing, only the other deer just don't pay much attention.

I watched a couple coyotes working these three deer in the riverbottom once. Time was ticking before I had to cut bait and ride my bike to work. I didnt make it a practice to shoot coyotes while I was seriously deer hunting. I was really annoyed how these coyotes were working these deer. I think the deer finally spotted me. They made a bee-line for me and went past me at about 10 feet. The coyotes lined out behind them. I hit the first one on the tip of his nose with a 200 grain nosler grizzly load. Pert near tubed him out on the spot, and smacked the other coyote behind him. The third paused for a second at the commotion of the one in front of him and then hit the nitro. I broadsided him with another 200 grain missile. Three coyotes down, 2 shots. I crossed the river, stashed my boots, and pedaled off to work with my gun (your gun) over my shoulder. You probably remember the incident as I was shooting up your grizzly loads on coyotes. LOL! I really dont recall why I was hunting with that rifle.
You might have just dropped me off and it was the gun in the truck, I don't know. I know I had my work clothes on.

I watched an old doe flat whop A double S on a coyote opening day of the rifle season this year in that spot you always see me parked at in the wenas.

My first memory of seeing a coyote, i believe was in the umptanum area? I was in the truck with my dad and we stopped, there were 2 muley does and a fawn on z knob, and we watched a coyote go slinking wide around the knob with obviously devious intentions. It disappeared around thd back for a minute and we waited. Sure as hell it popped out on the top charging at the fawn, and the one doe went at him hard. The coyote performed a tactical evasive maneuver just barely in time and we watched that doe run him down, coming very close to stomping his ass into the ground. A big ol pissed off mama muley is nothing to take lightly for a scraggly 20lb desert dog.

:tup: nice! It’s interesting to watch the different interactions. Some deer get spooked, some deer act unimpressed, some go Rambo, and others seemingly fall over and die.
