After seeing and hearing how well the wolf trappers are doing in the area my buddy and I hunted this year, I was glad to notch my tag on this spike solo on a Sunday afternoon in October.
During the last trip back to the truck, I could hear wolves howling in the distance. Not the time to forget the headlamp in the truck.
50+ wolves have been killed in the area since August and the majority have been by trappers. Pretty sad to see first hand what wolves do to elk patterns, the rut, and overall hunting wise. Forget about moose. I only saw a dozen this fall.
Kinda creepy when you let out a bugle in the middle of the night and the wolves start howling. Was into elk every weekend in September, but they were dead quiet.
Hopefully we can find a cow to fill his tag next week.

Nice job. Some good clean eating right there!

Congrats on the elk. It's a shame that wolves have taken such a strong hold
