So this all seems to have started with an investigation into Matt Shea:
This week, Washington state legislators are reviewing an independent investigation into Rep. Matt Shea, investigating whether he promoted political violence.
This comes after private chat records, leaked by former Shea acolyte Jay Pounder, features Shea taking part in chats where his allies discuss elaborate violent fantasies against local liberal activists.
As the Inlander reported early this year, those chat messages included Anthony Bosworth — the guy Shea gave a "2016 Patriot of the Year" award to and sent down to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to de-escalate tensions — discussing a proposal to send severed wolf parts to Kieran Suckling, executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity, an aggressive environmental rights group.
"Get me the testicles off a North Idaho wolf and I'll send it to him," Bosworth writes.
"This is not something to put out electronically," Shea wrote. "We need to meet f2f." <----EXCELLENT ADVICE MR SHAE
in doing this story about Matt Shea the inlander discovers that it was the left that was making the threats online, some were bad enough to be forwarded to the FBI
But an Inlander records request for all documents related to the decision to cancel the meetings didn't turn up any explicit threats from anti-wolf extremists.
Instead, it turned up multiple violent social media threats from wolf supporters, including on the Facebook page of the Center for Biological Diversity.
According to the WDFW, most of the threats and harassment the organization has observed around the wolf issue has come from the environmental side, both locally and nationally. At times, the agency has raised concerns about online comments with the FBI.
In early August, the Center for Biological called its Facebook fans to action, warning them that, in the name of protecting cattle, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was planning to kill more members of the Old Profanity Peak pack in Ferry County.
The center posted the work phone numbers of Washington Fish and Wildlife Director Kelly Susewind and Jay Inslee, and urged their followers to tell them you "oppose this continued assault on Washington's endangered wolves."
Commenters were furious at the government employees. One — an executive at a computer shop in Illinois — reacted to by appearing to call for the murder of Washington Fish and Wildlife employees.
"Kill the state officials responsible for the crime," he wrote on Aug. 6. "Now. Immediately. Ask if I can help. I have no arms, but can shoot or move my hands." (The Inlander has edited these social media quotes slightly to correct typos.)
And that wasn't the only Facebook comment in August that caused WDFW officials concern.
Officials also flagged the following comments during August:
On a post from the Wolf Conservation Center, a commenter wrote, "I wish someone, ANYONE, would shoot the sharpshooters! I feel that would be a better solution," while another wrote, "I would kill every man that wants to kill nature. This is what nature needs now, dead stupid people."
On the "Save Wolves Now — Pacific Rim" Facebook group one commenter wrote that "our nation needs to take lethal action against WDWF!!!!" while a second confirmed that "I would like to take lethal action."
At the "Protect the Wolves" Facebook group, one commenter reacted to a post about WDFW hunting wolves from a helicopter by writing "Shoot them in the knee caps as they are not human." "Hopefully the helicopter will crash and kill all these dumbf—-s" one commenter wrote, while a second wrote "Can I say, 'rocket launcher'?" and a third wrote "Shoot the bird down in the sky"
On the Western Wildlife Conservation Facebook page, someone wrote "they also flew over my land. I pulled out the .30-30. I will shoot them down next time." (this is a specific and actionable threat)
At Wolfwatcher Facebook page, commenters expressed similar sentiments, with one writing "I wish I could be there to shoot down that plane" and another writing "Shoot down the planes!"
Fish and Wildlife spokeswoman Staci Lehman confirms that the violent rhetoric in these posts were part of the reason that the meetings in August were canceled. She says that, while there were angry comments on both sides, she is not aware of any specific violent threats coming from the anti-wolf side.

Wow.
-
This is where "Red Flag" laws could be useful but it would never happen because violence by leftists is justified. :dunno:
-
Wow is right.
-
And folks wonder why wdfw tends to tip toe around the wolf issues?
-
This is nutty! Ducking and tiptoeing will not help. This should be addressed straight on, mainstream media stuff. Threats are threats. Red flag laws should absolutely be instituted here. The more they let go, the more they will see :bash: :IBCOOL:.
Thanks for the post.

I'm just proud of the so called "anti-wolfers", not. one. single. threat. has come from that side,
if there was a single threat from the "anti-wolf" side, you bet it would have been made a big deal of!

In their twisted world wolves are equal to, or more valuable than humans. Threatening to kill or harm wolves justifies the same treatment of humans that would harm wolves.

Hard to realize just how many people arent all there.........sickos.

Naw, the pro-wolfers and WDFW sleep in the same bed, WDFW like the USFWS have lied from the beginning about WA's wolves. Look at who the USFWS partnered up with in the illegal wolf introduction, and now look at who WDFW have been partnered up with for many years. That's right Defenders of Wildlife, CNW and other fake environmentalists.

lol.. America has always had lots of wackos but they use to keep them in institutions. Now they are the base of the Democratic Party. :chuckle:

Have any been investigated/prosecuted?
-
I really dont believe we will ever get a wolf season, but man if we did i would put everything else on hold... deer hunting, bear hunting, whatever... take time off work and try my dsmndest to be the first to legally kill a wolf here. Then id make a facebook account and post up a nice grip and grin for these snowflakes. Let the death threats roll in. These pukes dont even know which end of a gun is the business end.

Idaho
I've got some ideas....

I've got some ideas....
People post wolf kills from idaho all the time im sure. But posting the first "endangered" wolf kill from WA would cause a $*** storm.
-
But i did just get home to find a care pkg from IDFG in the mail

What I meant was cutting our teeth in Idaho on wolves, then bringing that knowledge to WA when *if* its ever go time here. I had some idea's I wanted to try in Idaho for archery wolf.

Hunters would look a lot better on wolf issues if we could cut out the small minority of extremists who tout tinfoil hat garbage.

Did you read the article? The extremists doing threats were all from the pro-wolf lefty side of the isle.....100% and that was from WDFW themselves.
You seem to have a very loose definition of extremist, which is anyone who argues with you on HW :chuckle:

This article should be a reminder to all of us: Anti-hunters, Pro-hunters...you will be judged by the public on your worst actors.
I don't consider it a major win that people from the hunting side or those who would like wolf management did not make reprehensible death threats against WDFW staff. The bar must be higher than the bottom of the barrel of society. I do think it suggests hunters, in general, are more reasonable people than anti-hunters and that is certainly the positive of this article.
However, there are still some extremist views on the pro-management side of wolves - and if we could stop their antics and disassociate them from hunters we would all look even better in the court of public opinion.
I don't consider people who I disagree with extremist. You are an example...I disagree on any number of topics with you but I certainly don't consider you an extremist. Others, who have a vast record of posting wild conspiracy theories, I would consider an extremist that if they are associated by outsiders with the hunting community, really makes us look bad. If we continue to condemn and disassociate from these extremists it builds our collective reputation - an important thing to do on a topic so political as wolf management.
-
Well that's positive news, here I thought I was an extremist, you've certainly alluded to it enough times over the years..so you can't fault me for thinking I was.
I'll endeavor a bit harder to get there ;)
Seriously though, I think you underplay this article. The way this all went down everyone thought it was the anti wolf and ranchers that were making the threats, even here on HW.
I made numerous attempts to correct the misinformation being spread about people in Stevens CO, so this is validation of those efforts.
to wit:
no one would rough up anyone in Colville, it's a sham and a lie.
WDFW is labeling the entire east side of the state as enemies of the state to be feared, but it isn't true.
Can anyone point to anywhere or any circumstance where violence was threatened or acted upon?
I'm not happy with the way WDFW played this, allowing everyone to think it was us in NE Washington that got the meetings cancelled due to threats, when in fact it was the pro-wolf groups making threats.
Then WAcoyotehunter told everyone it was the Stevens CO militia that got the meetings cancelled...there's still not a shred of evidence they were going to attend, let alone threaten violence.
To be fair to you Idahohntr you condemned radicals on both sides of the isle, wishing to lock them up in a shipping container.

Lay low. Keep mouths shut. Don’t make a scene. Make the other side look like the whacko crowd. This scenario is a great example.

This is a left/right issue and the left has proven time and time again that they embrace violence and hatred. ANTIFA, DOW, PETA, SDS - They've all embraced hatred and violence.

And there for these groups should be on the "Domestic Terrorist" list, and treated as such, imho. Serious

I agree...and let's not forget to add Cliven Bundy and his ilk to the list of terrorists who should be dealt with as such.
