Title: magnapul 700 stock for rem. 700 .264 win mag. opinions
Post by: romaknows on January 01, 2020, 06:32:31 PM: Hi, I have been wanting to try my hand at shooting out at longer distances and I have an 1968 rem 700 .264 win mag. that I have sitting around in great shape that I never use due to not wanting to ruin the nice wood stock.

I was wondering if the magpul stock is decent? any other recommendations?

The rifle is all stock accept for a trigger job. Thank you

Post by: Bill W on January 01, 2020, 08:35:18 PM: I keep thinking those older .264's have a 1 in 10 twist rate. I know they are accurate out to about 600 yards. Also they do heat up fast.

It has more to do with not wanting to bugger up the original wood stock, that said I might be better off picking up a factory rifle built for shooting long distance than putting any money into the old barrel burner.
