anybody else use or own something in 250 savage? i have a savage99 in this caliber and i love it...although finding ammo is pretty difficult.

I've got a 99 in a 300 Sav. Killed my 1st and still my biggest whitetail w/ it.

I have a 250 and 300. Old ones with the brass wheel magazine and counter. They're take downs and need a little work so I haven't shot them. They're old family guns. I do have the reload equipment for the 250, but I don't reload yet.

I love my .250! It is my go-to coyote rifle. It really sucks finding ammo. I paid $28 a box for Remingtons last week. Cabela's in Lacey has them for $24 and change. I had a buddy reload me a bunch but he passed away this year. I am looking for a good reloading rig to do my own. I've been saving the brass for quite a while.

looks like were in the same boat polarbear! finding ammo is damn near impossible unless your ordering online. i went to cabelas the other day and they were sold out of 250 sav. guess ill have to wait until they restock...ive been saving my brass as well but have yet to get into reloading...someday i will and ill be prepared!

i have a really good friend that has a 300 with the counter also but the back stock is missing. not in very good shape but i have been thinking about getting it from him and trying to fix it. i believe it would be an easy fix.
do you guys know how much it might be worth?

Russ, Cabela's had a bunch of .250 on Wednesday evening. Remington and Winchester. By hunting buddy in E. WA. has a reloading kit for the .250 (we have the same rifle down to the year and scope) and is supposed to give it to me if I can ever remember to pick it up whenever I am over there. I have never reloaded but want to learn and learn how to do it correctly.

oh really? i went wed around 12pm. i guess they restocked. im excited now, i better take a run over there tomorrow. thanks for the heads up polarbear! i want to learn how to reload too, seems like an interesting hobby, plus saves money.

I got my .250 this summer. It's a 1929, too bad the last owner drilled and tapped it. My plans are to make this into a scope less yote and deer rifle. The rear site was installed backwards so the scope would fit. I've done some loading for it using the Hornady 87gr sp.

Nice little shootin Iron, kill way better than their ballistics suggest. I have a Model 99 now, former was a M77 Bicentenial, its haunted me every since our parting. Get set up to roll your own, that will fix any problems with ammo you have. Later

MHWASH, mine is a 1929 (savage 99) as well...mine not perfect either, the blue is pretty worn and the wood is a bit discolored...someday i will restore it!

I have a model 1920 bolt action Savage in .250-3000. It has been in a fire it looks like and someone had used putty to patch it up. It looks like that happen a long time ago and has been used some since. I shot it a once and it shot pretty good and a fun little rifle. The primers after shooting it popped out a little so I haven't shot it since.

My 250 was 1920. Some dirt farmer in the fam from the Dakotas did a repair to the butt stock and left runs in the lacquer, then replaced the steel but with a recoil pad. It's a bit of a mess in that regard.

I have an old 99 also, it looks pretty rough, the stock is oiled and almost black and most of the blue is worn off but it still shoots great. It was my 1st rifle, it was passed down from my dad when I was about 13. I shot my 1st 10 deer with it.

RELOAD......Watched a guy totally abuse a old 99 in 300 a few years ago at the range. Just could not take it anymore, and told him (imagine that I could not keep my mouth shut) what the gun was worth and he just about crapped his pants. Just wonder how many guns are being abused beyond belief by people who have no clue as to what they are doing. Not bashing just an observation. Kinda like antique collectors who laugh at the Morons (self included) who have thrown things away worth a fortune.

hope to have one soon, I have an old Remington model 600 that I am going to have rebarreled but with a longer barrel for that extra few FPS. I am going to have a "quartet of quarters." My little girl has a 25-35 Win, I have a 25-06 Rem and if I get the 600 done in 250 savage, I also have a new Ruger Hawkeye in 257 Bob on layaway.

thats awesome...i enjoy shooting the 250sav. i need to spruce mine up before i take it out but i cant wait to hunt with it. Nobody makes the 250 sav an option anymore do they? i havent seen it chambered in any new guns...maybe im not looking hard enough?

Jim Brock of Brock's gunsmithing in Spokane will do the work for me. He has done work for me in the past and I've never been disappointed.

I do see at every gunshow in Spokane a guy who has a 1984 Remington Model 700 Classic in 250 Savage, still in the original box, still has the trigger tag on it too. he's asking $700. Maybe too steep since he still has it after four shows, but I'd still love to have it.

wow thats crazy its still in the box and all. thatd be a nice gun to have but a little too much money for me!
