"oh I was walking through the jungle looking for tigers and just stumbled across this deer head"
Really!? Did you ever think you would get to the point in your life where you would say that? When you say something like that do you just know that's going to be the most bad-a thing the other person has ever heard? I'm jealous, awesome find!

Must have taken off the kevlar outfit for the pic eh !!

Haha, definitely the last thing I ever thought I’d be saying!! I think India gets a bad wrap sometimes, but it’s pretty amazing out here!

We did run into this guy though. Too bad they don’t shed those tusks!

I think I see one over your left shoulder, ahh never mind, it’s just an Indian biggie. >:( >:( >:(

I always think of this video when it comes to Indian elephants and tigers...
They used to carry Howdah pistols, is that still common over there?
-
I was wondering where you been lately!! Cool find, can you bring it home?
-
Wow thats a cool trip, nice find

Hey Tbob, ever read jim corbetts books? Theyll make a guy want to pack some serious heat in tiger / leopard country. Man that guy had gigantic steel balls. I think if i was even half the man he was, id have taken over the world by now. Im assuming youve read his stuff. If not, i promise youll love it.

Yeah, I’ve seen that video as well. I wasn’t super “comfortable” when he said we were going out on foot, but we went anyways. No pistols like that, just a few shotguns with the guides. Those things look pretty bad-a$$ though!

Been over here since the beginning of January and will be getting home the first day of March. Been a crazy cool trip so far. We’re heading up to the Northern side of the country tomorrow. So unfortunately can’t bring any “animal products” or parts home so I just hung this guy in the tree. I found another Sambar shed antler, but again I just hung it in a tree.
Let’s connect for another trip out for elk sheds when I get home. That was a cool day out.

Nope, haven’t ever read any nor have I heard of him... I’ll definitely be checking it out though when I get home. Thanks for the recommendation!!

I wonder what the laws are between the U.S. and India regarding gun sales? Just thinking to myself how cool it would be to have an original Indian made Howdah pistol! Lol If you don't mind my asking, what are you there for?

India is one of those places I’ve always wanted to go.. my wife and I are here just traveling around the country for a month, seeing as much as we can. After this we’re headed down to Sri Lanka for 2 weeks then back home to the PNW. Sure glad we’re missing all that lovely liquid sunshine y’all have been getting 😎

Watch your back trail son!! I’m guessing our CCP permits probably aren’t legal over there, and yes, definitely get you out to look for sheds. I’ll be up there this month cutting firewood and looking around.

I've read most big cat stuff... Corbett's are some of the very best! (Probably better you didn't read them beforehand! He intentionally chased man-eaters!)

Yep, guess I’m glad I didn’t read before!! Ha!! Big cat spotted. Just amazing seeing a wild tiger! Never did I think I’d be seeing wild tigers in India! Just incredible and I’m still alive to tell the tales!

Cool.

That's really cool

Youve made me quite envious. This was in a vehicle or an on foot encounter? Gotta give more details for us who will probably never get to see a wild tiger. Very very cool.

So yeah, today’s Safari was in a Jeep. We are in a different state of India now and the law here is you MUST be in a vehicle. So we saw two tigers at two different times and areas. Apparently they are two year old brother and sister, Just about to separate and head out in their own. The first one walked from a ways back to maybe 20 yards down the side of our open air Jeep and crossed the little dirt track right in front of us. I was like this is amazing and all I could hear my wife saying was, “too close, TOO close, TOO CLOSE”! He was roaring every now and again apparently trying to locate his sister. Later in the day we found the sister and then they were both walking around together. So crazy to see them in the wild! We saw tons and tons of other animals too. Sambar deer, Axis deer so thick you could walk across them, alligators, monkeys all over and tons of crazy birds, including owls even. One of the most memorable days of my life for sure! We’ve experienced a lot of amazing things here in India the last 3 weeks and with three to go, this will be THE highlight of the trip for me!

Thanks! Really really cool!
