I'm in. All long shots. Anybody else apply yet?
-
Waiting to buy my license close to the deadline so I can use it again next year. All random odds for me

I'm in. I should draw a general deer tag. Everything else is a crap shoot.

Points only for me. Anyone go to the expo?
-
Went points only this year also.
-
I went points only for deer and elk.
-
In for deer; pts only for everything else. Should draw a deer tag here in next few years.

Utah sells way to many tags to the highest bidder.
-
will be in for everything, just havent decided on a few
-
Expo was good again this year lots of big money spent. Antelope island was a steal at 140k. Arizona state wide tag went for 250k. I’m waiting from them to draw my raffle tag before applying 😜.

HHhhmmmm I've almost reached Jack Mormon status.

Yes I am a church going Mormon and yes I do find that very funny!!!! Buddy at work sent it to me! So I doubt you will see crazy AOC in the hills of Utah shooting your buck!!!!
-
I would leave my coffee and Redman in the truck and visit the Temple for just one little Henry's tag.
-
I’m all in with 13 deer points I’m getting close to getting what I would think is a halfway decent tag.

could get lucky in a randow, i drew book cliffs with 5 points :chuckle:
-
That is a rarity. Would be nice to draw the Henry's but don't hold your breath.
-
I'm not holding out for the henrys believe me that would be foolish.
-
Sitting on 18 points for Elk, but not holding my breath. POINT creep sucks!!!!!!
-
I'm in for muzzy elk, way better odds than Washington, even with one NR tag. Whoever draws should have epic antler growth, most of Utah is above 100% for snow pack!
-
I am due for a random tag.
-
I gave up a long time ago

Im also in for muzzy with 1 tag. Far better odds than most tags I apply for only 5 people last year had more points than me in specific unit
-
Well prepare to play second fiddle again as I am taking that puppy home.
-
Come on random draw cause that’s my only hope lol

I'm at 21 points for deer and bison and 11 for everything else. I think that surge of people currently at 11 will remain for a lot more years. I don't have a lot of hope for those points.
-
I'm building a new house and moving in September so points only for me....O, I did throw my hat in for the Henry's .....Guess I could squeeze that one in! LOL!
-
My big problem with point creep is that while I know its costing me more, I think I'd rather pay more to make a DIY hunt on public land than the same amount of money for a guided hunt on private.
Its not about the animal, its about the experience and being able to say you figured it out and won. I think a rational person just says... save your money and buy yourself a guided hunt every 5 years or something, but I don't want that experience!
I wish they'd just sell some OTC hunts for the same price as a guided for those who are too impatient to wait. At least you could make your own plan on how to save up and when to do it, instead of getting surprised and having a few months to figure it out.
I dont know, watching the creep is dang frustrating.
-
I think going on a guided hunt would be a blast....its a different experience but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad one...I think guides are a hugely overlooked resource regardless of your experience level
if we only go for "Everest" level of experience and look down at everything else we will be missing out on a lot of awesome opportunities
Food for thought
-
Yeah, I guess my point is that I'd rather harvest a non trophy animal in a trophy area than harvest a trophy animal with a guide, at least so far in life. Limited things I've done with guides so far have left me feeling a little empty. The fun is in learning the area, learning habits, getting better and working up to whatever goals you've set for yourself.
I wouldn't feel at all bad about drawing a great unit, having a great experience and shooting a very average or even below average bull. Some of it is just having a hunk of nature to yourself I suppose. Maybe paying for private land access and no guide would be a good balance in my future.
Even if you think about something like an OTC idaho tag. a $600 tag for a 10% chance is really the same as a $6000 hunt with a near guarantee.

I think you can draw an general tag as a NR with 4.
I'll split them with a buddy or family member someday.

First year I've applied, general deer and Elk. When does Utah usually draw?

The earliest I saw anyone post last year that they got a CC hit was May 12th. And results were posted on the 15th.

What about the year before that?

Same. But it's just starting. There is still hope until they send the emails. Then all hope is lost. Lol

Holy smokes, two hits! $800 and $536 limited bull and premium limited deer? -$30 for the fishing on the premium deer because I already paid it on the bull tag? Good thing I just moved to SE Idaho!

The $536 is (2) general tags charged at the same time. Almost a little relieved.
-
Good luck to all that drew.
Nothing for me in Utah.
-
No hits on my credit card either, but with only 9 points across the board I wasn’t expecting to draw, and really not sure I ever will in Utah.

What unit and season is the bull tag for?
-
Nothing for me yet.
-
Nothing for me and not holding my breath for anything to show up.
-
I think that I struck out as well, just waiting on final email confirmation at this point. Only another week and Nevada should post though so we will hope for better results next week.
-
nothing yet for me
-
My wife and cousin put in together and got hit for the general tag in Pine Valley. This will be the first time for anyone in our group to hunt Utah, so we are pretty stoked to go spend sometime in a new area. Congrats to everyone else whose cc got hit and best of luck to you.
-
And I got the email full of "Unsuccessful"... anybody else?

Me to!!!

Not going to Utah this year.
-
Just got my official UT email.
Thank you for your recent applications for Big Game. Your results are as follows:
Preference Point Earned: General Season Buck Deer
UNSUCCESSFUL: Limited Entry Bull Elk
UNSUCCESSFUL: Limited Entry Buck Pronghorn
UNSUCCESSFUL: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
Tough week for draw results. No go for MT Sheep, ID Moose & UT stuff. On to OR next.
Better success to others that applied.
-
Nothing for me, but my friend who's wife drew elk last year, his son drew elk this year. I hope to have some involvement again.
-
No Utah for me. I thought I was pretty close on a deer tag.
-
UNSUCCESSFUL

I love the annual “u suck” email.
-

Box Elder general buck
Rifle? I’ve always kinda been interested because I mean it borders right on some of the best deer country in Nevada and Idaho, it can’t be as bad as everybody says right? Interested to hear the outcome of your hunt
