My neighbor and I took our kids over to the NE corner for the youth antlerless whitetail hunt over the weekend. We didn't connect in Winthrop with the antlerless tags (although had I listened to you guys who told me where to go and didn't let the crowds scare me out we probably would have tagged out up there). Had a great trip, met a great landowner who had deer tearing up his alfalfa field so we did our part to help him out. Might even work out a late archery trip back over in November. My sons third and my neighbor's son's first.

That's cool. How old are they? Sounds like a perfect spot for young kids. If they have to wait it out too long, they can get bored. They look like they had a blast.

Good work kids (and parents)!

Nice sized doe. Man that's always great eating too. I can't wait for my kids to get a little bigger. How old are yours?

Thanks guys,
My kid is 12, the neighbor kid is 9. Mine is already giving me grief about killing as many deer as me, i have to remind him i brought him into this world and i can take him out. :chuckle: :P
My son's deer turned out to be a yearling buck, no horns. It was the only deer in the field and the first one we saw that day, not knowing we would see a boatload more we decided to take it.
We butchered both up ourselves on Sunday and ground up the burger yesterday. Now I have to listen to my kid tell me he's providing meat for the family, :o I guess someone has to. :dunno: :P
