Picked up this Ruger impact max and so far love this little thing but the trigger was like 10lbs. So I stripped it apart and honed the contact points, switched out the spring between the sear and disconnect with one I found at the hardware store, and smoothed up and edges that looked sharp and now she’s a crisp 4lbs on the money. I don’t get why they can’t have a normal trigger in these or why they make them so stiff. I also thought it would be a 15 minute job so I did it on the kitchen counter and it ended up taking 2 nights.
I also think we should start a petition to legalize air rifles for hunting small game. I prefer this to my 10/22 all day.

Saw this last week. .50 cal air rifle called the Hammer, :chuckle:

When you get into the higher end air rifles, you get all the various options of adjustable trigger, better accuracy and smoother to shoot. My friends own the FX air rifles. I think they have the FX Wildcat 2, Streamline and Crown. Light weight, super accurate and pneumatic. With the suppressors on them, you can't even hear them barely. You can get them in various calibers. I think they are all using the .22 cal or .25 cal air rifles.
It would be good to see options for being able to hunting with them.

The "big bore" air rifle options are getting pretty cool. Have looked a number of them.

I have a Gamo Shadow Whisper, .177, especially for the price. I bought it used for $50.
Walmart has it for sale for $98!
great pellet rifle!

Is it pretty quiet?

Yeah I’ll buy a PCP big bore once we can hunt with them and use that for coyotes! Who needs a suppressor when you’ve got 6 shots of 357 that just makes a tooff sound? Pretty sure starlings count in unclassified wildlife, same with the ground squirrels we have. I’m gonna be busy with mine if so.

If a big bore gun doesn't have integral baffles, it'll be much louder than expected.

Be careful what you wish for. If you being up the subject legally I can easily see the proposal for the federal tax stamp, the ban on pellet rifles coated with assault style military paint, and the requirement that they all have noisemakers added so they go “bang” when they are fired. I mean a ruger 10-22 is about the deadliest weapon on earth to Washington law makers.

It is pretty quiet, not silent. But if you have not heard one before you would not know it was a 1250 fps pellet rifle.
Great for taking out pests.
I also have a couple old Crossman 760 pump rifles. They are guessing 3-5 times as loud.
The THWACK if impact is louder then the shot.
