Great example of how WDFW could claim WA's wolves were well behaved, anything but a wolf...

I dont understand how these wardens can continue to work for these crooked phony managers with out publicly calling a spade a spade.  Just another example of how rotten to the core wdfw is.

Because they want to keep their job? And maybe one day promote?

Due to all of the baby boomer retirements most WDFW Officers have less than 10 years on and are under the age of 40, they are essentially new employees. Wouldn't go well for their career if they started speaking out publicly/privately. Heck, even Todd Vandivert (Operation Cody author) didn't speak out publicly until he retired.

And make significantly less money? WDFW pays less than most law enforcement agencies in WA, especially in more urban areas, but WDFW is still in the top three states for game warden pay in the US. WDFW actually gets quite a few game wardens transfers into the state simply because of the low pay in the other states.

That's exactly the kind of incident that destroys trust.

Thanks for being honest.

Of Coarse they didn't name names

It is just a random facebook post that literally anyone could make up. Luckily we all know every facebook post to be 100% truth so we should all accept every word in that post because we all hate wolves

Are you familiar with Steven's County Predator Watch?

Ever seen one of their posts proved misleading/inaccurate before?

Knowing a few of the wardens both past and present, I know this and understand this, its mostly out of frustration I say this.  Self preservation is an overriding factor where differences in opinon exist between coworkers and management.  Always been that way always will, and its not just wdfw.

Scott Nielsen is the President of the Stevens county cattlemen association and works very closely with the sheriff's department.

It would do NO GOOD to post false information and would hurt his ties to Jeff Flood (who's position is funded by WSDA through grants) and would damage the relationship with the Stevens county Sheriff Office.

If Scott Nielsen is posting information of this nature, it is vetted and accurate.

Thank you.

I haven't ever seen him post misleading info before, but I know you are much closer to it than I am.
He's always been a good source for accurate info.

 Wow.

It sounds like he did his job to me. Is he supposed to quit and make all things right in the world? I doubt he has millions of facebook followers to publicly call out to at any rate

Wow.
Why "wow"? It's not like they can speak out and join a department 20 minutes down the road and do the exact same thing like city cops or county deputies can do. If you want to be a game warden in WA you only have one option, WDFW.

I think the WOW comes from the disconnect of job vs passion. We only hear how messed up things are from those recently retired. If insiders can make a positive change why should we hold them in high regard?

That is the vibe i get from him and others that say similar things.  :twocents:

I'm not a "game warden" and so I cannot speak for those who are.....

but

I think I would take solace in the fact that I am doing a public service and would do everything I could to bust poachers and dirtballs who need busted.

The political crap would be that part of the job I least enjoyed...but after I got burned by my bosses in Olympia (again) I'd get back out in the woods doing what I felt good about while dreading the next depredation call.

we all got things we hate about our jobs, and things that make us feel good about it.   focus on the good, endure the bad.

Ya its like the job pays good, the retirement and bennies are good, so why would anyone speak up and rock the boat just to save deer and elk and moose and stuff like that ?  The actual men and women charged with upholding the laws turn a blind eye to an awfull lot of complete and utter bs spewed from the mouths of the bios and managers to the media.  AND they know its all bs.  Thats the gripe.
