Anybody else thinking about dropping a gobbler with a .410 shorty? I use a TC with the 24" 12 gauge turkey barrel. If the 12" 45LC/.410 TC barrels weren't 8 million dollars I'd probably already have one for spring. Anyone see anything in the regs I may have missed? I've never seen a length restriction, just shot size and gauge size. Watch the youtube vid of the guy harvest with a Taurus Judge .410. I love taking them at close range.

I am sure its doable at a close range with the right ammo. I gave shot them and the short barrel will really open the group so something with a slight controlled wad would be best. The new tss or whatever it is that is like 6.00 a round might be a prime choice.

Yeah I was thinking a tss choke and tss 9 shot would make a heck of an ambush gun. Maybe I can sweet talk the wife and get one by fall for some run and gun action.

I picked up the Savage turkey gun in .410 for this spring...I like the idea of a 26" barrel to use up the powder and push those pellets as fast as they can so they hit harder. I don't know if the T/C .410 pistol would be that good for two reasons: shot opens up quickly, and less time/pressure to push those pellets out faster, as once they leave the barrel they start slowing down. I am sure it would kill one under 15 yards but I'd be worried of wounding a bird any further than that. I have one of those pistols, I might try and pattern it just to see when I get ready to go out this year...I'll let you know how it patterns (with 3" #6 lead...I'm not wasting any of my TSS loads on the experiment at $6 a shot!!!...I do have 2 boxes for the new Stevens though).

I personally don't think your pattern would hold adequately to kill a turkey unless you were like 12' away.
That thing would open up wide.

Phillip Culpepper sighted in at 2 1/2 yards with his Taurus Judge. He took a gobbler at 4 feet in 2016. If anyone has a TC Encore 45LC/410 barrel they would be willing to loan out I would be willing to put some tss down range and post pictures of the results.

If you can get that little short barrel to pattern out to 20-30 yards the .410 loaded with TTS shot will do the rest. Here's one(2018) of quite a few I 've kilt with a .410 using TSS shot.

The regs say shotgun. I'm guessing with the rifled barrel to get around the shotgun length requirement WDFW wouldn't consider it a shotgun. Time for some WAC changes.

Washington defines shotgun as:
(30) "Shotgun" means a weapon with one or more barrels, designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or a single projectile for each single pull of the trigger.

I’m going to give it a shot this year! Using my single shot .410 that was my first gun. It has a built in full choke and the new tss loads are a complete game changer. What was once impractical is now quite doable

the post is bouncing between .410 and the T/C .410 pistol...for the latter, I was wondering if it would be considered legal due to the pistol aspect as well as it is not a smooth bore, but uses a special choke to stop the spinning of the wad just before it exits the barrel. for the former, the .410 aspect in a long barrel shotgun, I am super stoked to try the new Steven's turkey gun in .410 We took it out and patterned it this weekend. #6 lead did good at 20 yards but opened up too much at 30 yards. #7.5 lead did really good at 20 and 30 yards and is a viable "back up plan" but the Federal Premium TSS in #9 shot did the best out to 30 yards...too expensive to shoot again at 40 yards! So the kid and I are limiting ourselves to 30 yards and under (shouldn't be a problem since the last two came from under 20 yards)...but we will also throw in the 20 gauge as a back-up (or when the general season opens and we can each carry a gun). Youth season is only 2 weeks away....if we don't have to self isolate by mandatory order!
