I have a few ELK euro mounts and I cant find any hangers that look good to me. I currently have them on Skull hookers and I don't like the way they hang and how far they stick out from the wall. What are you using and why? I really like the way this one looks with the lower jaw attached so I don't think the traditional plaque would work.

Mine are all on plaques

On plaques here too. I make my own from figure wood.

Don't know if this would work for an elk skull or not, but I've been meaning to give this a try (or something like it) for deer skulls. I'm too cheap to pay for an official skull hook. I like having the mandibles attached with the skull - makes them look more complete.

Picture wire under the base of each antler to a single screw in hook to a stud. Can hardly notice it, which I like.

I'm with you. I dont like how far off the wall the skull hookers stick. Dont mind the angle, but not ideal either. I mount mine on plaques. For deer, a 1/4" x 4" lag works great for holding the head. Change the angle of the lag to change the angle of the head. Sometimes they don't sit just so on them so I'll wrap the end of the lag with duct tape a few times. Fixes it right up. Could also put the lag right into a stud and call it good, no plaque.
Just re-read your original post. I did this same technique with my elk euro. A decent 6x. Had to use a much larger lag, but it's been up for a couple years now and 1 earthquake, no problems. No reason you couldn't leave the lower jaw if you wanted, just have to glue it in. I can check what size lag I used tomorrow if you're interested.

Those are really nice.

I also do not like the Skull Hookers. Made the panel ,then welded a bracket to fit the skull.

 I’ve been stalling (way to long) on putting up my buck euro “until I do it right”. It’s going up today. Thanks.
-
Well I put it up, I may redo it on a plaque.
-
I’ve got a couple of these and they are very sturdy/invisible. Apparently unavailable, but the design is money
-
This is what I do.
-
Next to the garage door so I run a piece of wire through the skull to keep from falling
-
My favorite bear skull with claw necklace and recovered skug pendant.

Dig it
Very cool

I really like the look of those with the picture frame style plaques. Makes them look more like art and not just a skull on the wall. I am gonna see if the old saw still works and see what I can come up with. Must say that bear skull with the necklace is pretty awesome. thanks for sharing folks.

'Side Mounts' and fence post bucks
-
I really need to put them on some old weathered wood or something like it. I also should have coiled the barb wire in a traditional round shape instead.
-
I like BlackRiver’s euro mount styles especially the one with the 2 on the old post
-
I have a bunch of old barbed wire I got from a member just for these kinds of setups, just have never implemented it. I really like the burned pine on the frames, I may need to give that a shot.

I just used a basic black robe hook for this one.

I really like that side mount Black River did. Thanks everyone for sharing.

I use these. Used to use skull hookers but didn't like how far they stuck out.
