My 3 1/2 year old yellow lab Scout has been having seizures. I took him to the vet and they said he has Epilepsy. He has only had two in about a month and the vet said that if they become more frequent then he has to have medication. I am really hate seeing a member of the family and hunting buddy go through this, but we are staying positive. I just hope that it doesnt affect him to the point where he has trouble functioning normally. I will pray hard and keep my fingers crossed.

Beautiful dog. I'll pray for him too.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it doesnt get any worse.

Thats really sad and I am sorry to hear this. Hopefully he stays well. My sister had a seizure a few years back when she was maybe 14 or 15. She is 18 now and has not had one since.
I hope it stays that way for her. Lots of praying involved in my family, and I believe that helps a lot.
Hopefully he will be fine and it wont hurt his functioning ability or cause him pain. I'll say some prayers for ya too....

We had a dog that had epilepsy and whenever he had a seizure we gave him a bowl of milk and beleive it or not it would bring him out of it. It sounds weird but give it a try.
I learned this from a friend whose dog had seizures and all be damned if it didn't work for our dog too.

Sorry to hear. Try to keep an eye on him and determine what factors might start tiggering seizures. Be careful when you put him in the water for a retrieve. I've heard of dogs on a swim which have had a seizure and not make it back...
Great looking dog. He can still have a long life even though he has to be bothered by the problem....

Hang in there... trust me...it ain't the end of the world.. I've had Lab's with seizure's.... Ended up putting them on either Phenobarb, or Sodium Bromine, and they all have very fruitfull, hunt filled live's. The first couple week's after they first start the treatment, thier kinda out of it, but it's just thier brain getting used to it.
Sorry your going through this, as I know first hand how horrible it is to see them go through this. Keep us posted on how your buddy doing.

My friend has a dog that has the same problem. The vet figured out they were caused by preservetes he would feed the dog weinies and jerky and they found this is what caused them don;t know if you feed your dog anything like that.
