The Employment Security Department knew it was coming – a tsunami of unemployment claims coinciding with the availability of expanded and extended unemployment benefits provided under the federal CARES Act.
That tsunami hit with a more than 450% increase in total claims filed last week, or just under 1.5 million.

"Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told Fox News Thursday that "someone needs to pay" after recently unsealed documents revealed questionable conduct by top FBI officials during the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
"Laura, this upsets me so much because when I was at the United Nations, this is what we looked at other countries doing ... corrupt measures to frame people and to hide things," Haley said on "The Ingraham Angle." "I can't believe this happened in the United States of America.""
You okay Alchase?
What IN THE HELL does that have to do with unemployment? :dunno:

I'm sure a few claims resulted from the care act.
But it's a chain reaction ,just cause your an essential business doesn't mean you can sell your product.
Example
Construction closed, well now the demands for timber products goes down nobody needs 2x4 or sheating or joist hangers, right down to the box of nails for the nail gun.
It's a chain reaction to one thing being closed.
One thing like that can effect thousands of jobs through the chain.

Lots of construction guys going back to work between this week and next. We furloughed half of our shop. They'll all be back to work by 5/11.

When they drive the economy here to ruin, then they will initiate our new state tax system. This will be advertised to help us "recover" and poof !!! we will have state taxes.. strait out of the left playbooks...

The guys have been working here to get to the point of compliance. I think most of them are back to actually working. I'm specifically talking about the large scale jobs like the light rail project and the huge project going at Microsoft building a massive parking garage. Those are the guys I talk to every day.
Some never stopped working either if they were working on critical infrastructure projects. The guys doing the light rail over Lake Washington haven't stopped either because of their wet permits.

I had some essential work that kept us going up until now. Inslee holding up new residential job starts is killing us. It’s totally political too. There is no good reason not to let new home projects to start. All he is doing is concentrating the work force onto projects that were already started. It’s not about safety. It’s about him bowing to the labor unions who are major supporters of him and the democrats.

Blame,Blame,Blame it's about hospital beds and treatment, until your walking in someone else shoes and doing their job try thinking outside of your box. Have a good day.

It was about hospital beds and medical staff. The hospitals have the PPE that they need. They are not overwhelmed by COVID patients. The politicians have moved the goalposts. At first it was “ we don’t want to overload the medical capacity”. Now it is “we need to make sure you don’t catch it. I have a daughter that works as a RN in a hospital. The. COVID floor only had 8 patients recently and the nurses were bored. You have a good day too!

Good response, Lucky1.
And your original post was right on.
How is it possibly not political when you can work on a gov't bldg but not a private residence?
There is no way that one is safer than the other.
It is/was the governor picking winners and losers...... aka political

Both of our hospitals are ghost towns and laying off staff. I had to take my dad who's 76 in with chemo complications. The first hospital was closed for the day at 5pm and wasn't answering the hotline. The next hospital took him and got him squared away, and tested him for the virus because he had a fever. Turn around for the test was 4 days. NEGATIVE
