Let's keep it on track with the original intentions of the OP folks. Please and thank you. No debates needed in this thread .

Tuesday🤑🤑🤑😉🥃🇺🇸

How crazy busy do you guys think it's going to be. I can't tell how many people are still working. I'm trying to prep myself in case I get to the launch and it's a dumpster fire and I have to turn back.

I'm deeply concerned! Hearing about lines of people buying fishing licenses...hopefully just the normal crowd that held off until it reopened?

I think it will be less busy then some people think. But I’m interested to find out.

Think I'll go get my license today.

This felt so good and will even taste better!! Happy Spring Chinooking!

The 1st spot I went to was crazy busy, I had to abort. Spot #2 was not too bad. Lots of stocker trout to be had.
-
High noon on day 1 and all we have is 1 salmon in the mud pic so far?
-
Cross post
-
Got me one too!
-
Can’t wait to see the Bucketmouth @Bassquatch comes up with. You know he’s been smiling all day!
-
Got up at 5:00 after getting everything ready yesterday. On the lake by 5:30 and had his first fish quick. Got him his limit and we’re back home by 7:30. Pretty sure he got the first fish on the lake this morning.
-
Quick trip after work. We caught about a dozen smallmouth and one large mouth. Biggest going 3lb 5oz. Nothing big but it felt great catching some bass.

Cleaned this one up for today's photo! Was so excited yesterday didnt pay attention to the details! :chuckle:

Good to wet lines again!
Alex did well on the bass. (He's a @bassquatch student!) Caught 3 nice ones, amongst the dinks.
Wife and I only lost a few bass. I had a few dinks splashing, but never boated any. (Saw a nice one! 4ish or better. Couldn’t get it to bite.)
We all did well on trout, lost about a hundred and caught about a dozen between us.
Stayed a LOT further away from others than we do at the Wal Mart!!!!

Love a good smallmouth bite. Nice fish.

I think you're spot #2 was also my back-up. Glad you also scored some fish. It was fun to see some kids out on the lakes. My 11 year old was happy to get something on the line.

The original plan was to catch some crappie in the lake across the street but when I got there at about 5:30 the parking was full and there were several boats waiting to launch. Looked like real zoo. Might try it again when the craze dies down.
Glad you got your son on some fish!
-
Took the my daughters for a quick trip. We all were limited in about an hour. They had a lot of fun, especially because I was the last to limit. Not going to live that down soon.
-
Awesome. It’s not always a bad thing when the kids show you up. Means you must’ve taught them something

I go nothing to show, but not for lack of trying. First trip out I motored about 30 minutes into Puget Sound. Started trolling and noticed my feet were getting wet. Hmm weird I knew the plug was in. Turned on both bilge pumps and it took 10 minutes to empty the boat. Knew something wasnt right. So after 15 mintues of fishing I had to head in. Got home and found that the intake hose for the livewell had popped off. Easy fix, and been back out twice more but no luck yet. Salmon are not cooperating.
-
The wife and i went Saturday to my favorite reservoir. Fun day till my trolling motor battery ran out of poop. Id charged them both fully the week before the fishing closure, I didnt recharge before we went, figuring there had to be 3-5 hrs of run time between them. Nope, 2.5 hrs. Oh well. We had a great time still.

Snuck out for a bit today, just caught 1 small catfish
-
What's really great about these posts is seeing the young folks out there getting it done
-
Treated my mom to our annual Mother's day trip. The whole day on me. And what do I do... "steal" her fish, and the big one for the day. Just shy of 3 lbs. She was really just learning to fish weightless senkos. She had a bite, missed it on the swing. I flipped mine into the same spot as she was getting a new senko. Bam. "Brat" may have been the nicest word she used :chuckle:
And limited out on crappie for the two of us

Does a subsistence trip in AK count for this thread? We weren't closed down, but I did do this after May 5...
A subsistence permit for rural residents means you can longline, but only with 30 hooks at a time. There are some more restrictive rules closer to town, but we ran a ways out. You're required to retain the first 20 "subsistence" fish you catch per permit. Halibut, rockfish, ling cod count towards that number.
I went with a good friend up here. Our first set was a test, 1 hour soak in the spot we picked gave up two nice Hali and three yelloweye. We reset and gave it a 3.5 hour soak through tide change. That pull gave up 8 Hali (from 12 to 60#), 8 yelloweye and a nice ling. My best subsistence set to date. We had two permits on the boat so could have retained 40 fish, but quit with what we had. We ended up with 118# of skinless filets.
We donated some to a few families that can't get out and split the rest.
We won't be going hungry this year.

Wow! Very nice.

Nick didn't catch a thing! He likes to say I _always_ outfish him. :chuckle: It's only true about half of the time. He's chasing catfish this week, determined to catch one.
We need to come visit soon. I'd love to see a Burbot in real life. Say Hi to Wendy for me please :)

I had chores on Sunday and my brother was fishing 5 minutes from our house. He called to say they were killing the Dick Nites. Nothing of size but having fun. I loaded the boys up and took them to the launch. They each caught fish before I made it back home. They caught 11 in just over an hour in the middle of the day.

Killer smiles!

My mom is killin it on the bass this week. Earlier in the week she caught the one on the left. Best guess was between 5 1/2 lbs and 6. She put it on the stringer (the metal clip kind) and fished down the bank a little, came back and the clip failed and the fish was gone. She was beside herself, it was her biggest bass ever, she had only caught up to 3 pounders before. It was probably going to be mounted. Then we went today (Sat 5-30) and she managed this beast on the right. Weighed in at 6lbs 10oz. She beat out my personal record with that 10oz. My biggest is 6 even. She has been on cloud nine since, and is for sure having it mounted. Taught her how to use weightless senkos and this has been the result, I dont think she is ever gonna go fishing again without having one tied on, haha.
-
Good mornings work
-
If I mounted every 5-7 pound bass I've caught in this State my house would be out of wall space. Tell her great job but hold out for a 9+, or get replicas made, they're way cheaper, last longer and allow more of the sub 7's to reach true trophy size! Beautiful fish btw
If you wouldn't mind, pass along the info of who you end up using for the skin mount and how you liked their work.
-
Rasbo good work.

A 6+ largie is a Washington tub. Most casual fishers will never encounter one.

True statement.
Just an expensive process. I've always wanted to mount something over 7lbs cause most of the time the pics don't do them justice (even though I've seen 4's look like 8's in some pics lol :dunno:). I just can't justify the cost of a skin mount and the process is a pain! A good fiberglass replica is still gonna run over $250! That's money I could spend on more gear, gas or boat upgrades...tough decision :chuckle:
No issue with anyone mounting or eating bass BTW....hope it didn't come across that way!

Yea. Personally, Mounts for me after my first couple big fish are a matter of when I best my own personal record. Mine is 6 even, however it was a super thin fish. I could fit my fist in its mouth with plenty of room to spare all the way around. The head was just massive. My guess is if it haddnt been so unhealthily thin then it would have probably hit 8lbs. Length was like 26 or so. This year is the first time I broke 4.5 lbs in almost 10 years, and that was just today with this 5.25 lbs fatty. I used to turn loose a lot of bass. Just keep a couple here and there to fry up (granted I used to catch a lot more too haha). However, now in my married life, if my wife found out that I turned loose any bass that I could legally bring home..... lets just say the fish would be the only thing mounted in the house for a while. One of the first things I ever cooked for her was breaded pan fried largemouth, I still am convinced thats all she keeps me around for ;) :chuckle:
Anywho. here is the chubby one I got today (6-2-20). Only bite for the day, went to fish the frog on some mats but water level rose since last week and the mats now are not mats, haha. So had to work the senko for this bite. Had 3 finglerling size catfish in its belly.
-
Couple from yesterday, 5 and 4.5. They slipped out of my hands and swam away....guess I'll just have to catch them again next year when they're 5.5 and 5 :chuckle: :dunno:
-
Somewhere between 10-12 LBS. I put her back to make more.

You guys are killing it!

Another from this weekend. 4.75lbs
Broke off twice in the same bush within 10 minutes before I got it. And low and behold, found both the entire senkos and hooks clear down in its belly.
-
Did you fix them for the pic or actually break her off twice with zero hook penetration? :yike:
-
one of them was poked out a little bit but for the most part it was zero hook penetration. I had been using lighter gear and after the second break off switched to heavier stuff.
