Post by: B4noon on May 05, 2020, 04:16:36 PM
Trying to convert to Williams peep sights for my knight bighorn I was able to order everything according to older posts by sabotloaded however I can not get the hoodless ramp part #1690 been on backorder since December when I orders everything from midway nobody has it available including Williams themselves curious of other options that might be suggested to match up with my rear sight which is the FP Legend May just leave original front sight on and try it just thought I would see if there were any suggestions thank you

In the past I have  used the factory front sight and had no issues.

My Bighorn performed just dandy with the rear Williams and stock front site.

I abandoned all hope on them. I never could get a correct height sight and gave up and went back to the factory sights. I have a Williams if someone wants one

I ordered directly from Williams in February, and got that part.  That's strange.  (I have heard that they are hard to deal with, but I called and got everything that I needed.)

Which Williams sight do you have that you might want to move?

I think I have the same parts on back order at Brownells. I noticed the Williams website is closed for ordering. Since they are in Michigan I'll bet their closure was extended & it might be awhile before we get our parts.

I purchased a William's peep sight after reading a few posts by Sabotloader and can say it changed my life.  The stock rear sight on my Bighorn was so finicky and difficult to do fine adjustment with, I nearly threw it in the garbage.  I'm using the stock front sight and it seems to work just great.

Anyone using the Williams precision muzzleloader sight?

Anyone using the Williams precision muzzleloader sight?

The ones I’ve seen say they do not fit Knight. I do like the look of their inserts better than the Lee shavers, I wonder if they fit the Lyman globe

This site is for the CVA optima v2, sabotloader sent this to me, it looks great.

I just put one on my Optima and it’s pretty sweet. I do think I’ll probably have issues in low light but since I hunt only elk with muzzleloader, bright blonde should give contrast to the crosshairs.

I want to see if I can get one for my TC Encore.

I followed the GoHunt article on accuracy for muzzleloader advice for what is basically the same setup as the Williams Precision peep and hooded front sight package on my CVA Accura V2 (using a regular peep and Lyman globe front sight).  I painted the crosshair in the globe sight with Glow On glow-in-the dark gunsight paint.

Because it was before Williams figured it out and introduced this new package to capture that market.  This Williams Precision package would have simplified the work (especially for figuring out proper sight height), and would be my recommendation if you can wait out the backorder situation.

Of course, it became so popular that folks bought out the inventory and Williams is still shut down.  So it could be a long wait to get one.  I was going to buy one of these Williams Precision packages, and put on my buddies CVA Scout for him....but am concerned how long the backorder delays will be so may just go back to the way I did it on my Accura.

I was thinking about trying something similar with mine, maybe a tiny white dot or something. Can hardly see the crosshairs

That stuff works well on the crosshairs on my setup.

FYI The Williams Precision sights are back in stock.  I placed an order, knowing it was backorder and thinking it would take a month or two to clear the backlog.  Nope.  Muzzle-loaders.com must have received a shipment that same day because my order was processed and shipped the next day.

That was fast. The William's Precision sights went from backorder last Thursday when I placed my order, to shipped on Friday, to at my door and on my rifle today.

For my CVA Accura I followed the GoHunt instructions of basically making your own front globe and crosshairs as this Williama Precision sight kit didn't exit then.  Put this William's Precision on a different CVA today.

This William's setup is SO much easier to install.  Two screws and a couple minutes to install. Far easier than the other method. So both muzzies have similar peep and globe with crosshairs setup. I have just the one Merrit adjustable peep insert so may need to pick up a second one of those.

Need to get some new GlowOn gunsight paint as mine has dried out. But otherwise quite happy with the simplicity of this Precision setup.

With pic, which wouldn't attach to prior post for some reason.

I bought pretty much every sight you can buy for my CVA Acurra and settled on the stock front sight and an Eabco peeprib https://www.eabco.net/PeepRib-Peep-Sights-for-CVA-Optima-Kodiak-Wolf-and-Accura_p_13910.html (https://www.eabco.net/PeepRib-Peep-Sights-for-CVA-Optima-Kodiak-Wolf-and-Accura_p_13910.html) with the peep sight removed and replaced with a Williams ghost ring https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/optics/sights/williams-ghost-ring-sight.html (https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/optics/sights/williams-ghost-ring-sight.html). Doing this allowed me to have my rear sight just a little forward of the breech plug rather than 9 or so inches away like the stock sight is. Plus with the Eabco it is a rail as well, so if you wanted to throw on a scope you would always have that option.

I used the ghost ring at it was alright out to 75 yards but crap any farther. The Williams precision sight with the front hood is deadly at 100+ yards  as long as you paint the insert a bright color
