Title: First thermal coyote.
Post by: Lucky1 on May 09, 2020, 04:11:35 PM
Finally got one with my low end Thor thermal vision scope. It worked good. Only a 30 yard shot. It’s mounted on a AR with a 223 Wilde upper. 62 grain soft point at 3000 FPS = bang flop.

They work day or night. It’s thermal vision technology. I sighted it in using a hand warmer in daylight. I did shoot the coyote at night.

Which scope did you buy?

It’s a ATN THORLT 4-8x.
I struggle with technology. I was able to figure this one out enough to make it work.

That's why I bought the Pulsar Apex. Good basic unit without all the bells and whistles.

Got another one! 113 yards this time. Ranged it from the spot where it dropped back to where I shot from. I ran one off Scanning with the red light a couple weeks ago. This might have been the same one. Found him by scanning with the thermal scope. He was doing some kind of bark/howl. Sounded like a challenge.

Got another one. I missed on the first shot and he stood there looking around and gave me another chance.
