Title: Special Tag Question
Post by: HuntingFanatic on November 01, 2007, 05:23:09 AM
For the last 5 years my dad and I have put in for a late deer tag as a group. Is the only drawback if we get selected and there is only 1 tag left we get thrown back in the pool?

I called Olympia a couple of years ago about this same question on a goat hunt my partner and I were applying for and they said if one tag was left  we would not draw. My only problem with calling Olympia is it matters who you get on the line hopefully it's someone who ACTUALLY knows. I wouldn't worry about it if there is only the two of you and there is 10-20 tags offered like most of the late deer hunts. After all in this state if you have good luck you'll get drawn if you have bad luck you won't and if you do get drawn they'll re-draw and you won't draw out the second time.

Correct to the original question.

If the unit has more then 20 permits I wouldn't worry, but we always apply for a unit with only 5 permits so we all go as single.
