My favorite eating fish, what a pig!!!!! Why throw it back? at neah bay I'd kill to put that in the boat!

There's a max size limit in some areas, musta been.in one of those areas. Would have made a lot of fish and chips though

coastal areas arent regulated by slot size like the inside areas.
26"-36"

gotcha! Like catching a "native" salmon and having to throw it back, ouch!!
-
Impressive! I caught a 25 pounder in Canada once but it didn't taste as good as the smaller ones.

Why throw it back?
To make a long story short, the big lings are responsible for reproduction, females can't reproduce until their about 30", males 24" that takes approx 4-5 years. Large females produce hundreds of thousands of eggs. It's better for our future fishing to toss back the very large lings. Thats why.

One Big Ling!
If I want one that Big, he has to be holding on to a Halibut ! :dunno:
Ever get a Blue One on? :yike:

I filleted a 46" for someone once, it had so many worms I refused a piece for my troubles.
I released a 38" on Saturday in the islands.
That is a crazy dark blue! The first one I ever got, I speared and found this crazy blue thing when I cleaned it.
