A question for all of you extream predator hunters.
Will Badgers come to a predator call? If so what distress call would you use?
Thank you.
-
Never called one, but try a mouse squeak.
-
Not sure how valuable this anecdote is but was driving down the highway when I spotted a badger crossing a hay field. Just wanted to get him to stop for a photo so I squealed on my predator call (jackrabbit). Not only did he stop but he came running toward me, only stopping when he came to the grass on the edge of the highway, probably less than thirty feet away. Mind you, I was sitting in my Explorer on a two lane highway. So definitely, that one badger came to a call.

Just a reminder, it is illegal to hunt badger in WA. The only legal method of take is by trapping.

Wisconsin "fight song".
-
Saw these the other day and they could care less, although they looked young?!?
-
Where I'm from, all you need to holler is "FREE BEER".

I have had 2 come in to vole distress. Weird it was about a week apart about 20 miles apart. Never have had any more show up again. I bet if you got near a active digging area and den and hit the vole distress they would for sure come check it out.

Don’t think he lives in wa any more. Have to check in whatever state he resides.

Humptulips and Rainer 10, I proudly and sorrowfully can claim I no longer live in King Inslee Kingdom. Where Washington has been my home for the past 61 years. In just 32 days and counting I will officially be a Montana Resident. Out here Badgers are considered a pest and can be trapped and hunted year round. I have some new activity on my property so this evening I plan on convincing them that this is not a good place to reside.

Hey I saw your location. I just don't want to see someone get in trouble for making the assumption it was OK in WA.
Also, it is not a result of a left leaning government or populace. The law has not changed since when I first I started hunting and trapping,1966

Congrats on the move and glad to hear it is legal there. I was surprised and disappointed to hear it was illegal here when I looked into it. I am overrun with badgers on my property. A new batch of babies just showed up. Three more little guys to look for a home to tunnel out.
Best of luck getting rid of yours.

Sounds like a good reason to take the online trappers course. So you can get a cage trap and see if you can catch them. Study for a bit then take it, maybe takes a hr / hr and a half.

I didn't know that was an option. Thanks for the tip.

I have tried several time without success to get a Badger into a cage.
Hopefully, someone can offer a tip or two.
calling comment above was predicated on the OP's location

I think foothold traps in Montana are still legal. Get some and find their burrows. Don't place them in an area frequented by loose pets.

Reinforce your cage, these are not your Brit badgers nor do they give a hoot about your will being

Badger's have a beautiful coat of Fur. With some luck you may even score a Double.

In my experience with badgers, you could get out and yell “hey badger!”, and it would come to whoop your @$%.
:yeah:
Hard a pair charging/chasing me in 12” stubble :chuckle: could barely see them except when they’d hit the tire tracks. Three guys running zig zag trying to make it back to the pickup.
