I fish the lakes out of my Bayliner 175. I'm not a fan of drilling fiberglass and mounted my transducer with suction cup. It was great but I lost it in the Columbia running up river. My old Stryker had one mounted under the motor inside the hull from previous owner. I never used it but was remembering it being there. I've never seen/used one that way before. Does it work? Will it work with fiberglass? Any down sides?
Thanks!

My old boss’s boat(glas ply) we installed an transducer in the hull. The unit was made for either thru hull or epoxy to hull. If these are still available the only thing you would have to do is make sure to air pockets are between the transducer and hull. Worked extremely well, if I remember it was a foruno or lowrance unit.
