For the first time ever dad was saw something other than Not Selected. He drew a over 65 tag on the firing range. Was wondering if anyone might be willing to offer advise on this tag. We are planning on scouting the area but as the web site says it is the size of Rhoda Island so a general nod would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm having doubts we'll be allowed to hunt in there this year with the Covid situation.

Well we traveled high and low and saw large bucks and a big bull but no cows. We will try again after our deer hunt next weekend. One interesting thing we saw was a badger in area 7 along cold creek. Funny little guy. Got a video of him heading towards the creek. First badger I have seen in the wild.

Any updates on the cow hunt from any members? I traveled over this weekend and hunted Saturday and Sunday. Had never been there before and was totally shocked by the enormous size of the YTC. Saw a few spikes and small bulls during the day on Saturday and a few cows right at dark that were impossible to get to due to their location and darkness. No elk sightings on Sunday. Am going to give it another try on the last 2 or 3 days of the season later this week. If anybody has any suggestions on general areas to target I'm all ears!
-
What units have been open? I know it changes daily. Just asking generally.
-
If I remember correctly, the only units that were closed over the weekend were 5 and 16. The hotline just listed areas 1-9 and 16 open tomorrow.
-
Gonna be in there Wednesday and Thursday this week looking for one cow willing to be freezer foder. Looks like they key areas will be open.
-
I hope they keep most of those areas open through the week. Good luck and maybe I'll bump into you over there!
-
I’d hit up 15 if open. Lots of elk in 15.

Thanks for the heads up on that Teanaway. Hoping they may open it before the season ends on Friday.

You guys as well. We got 2 days to seal the deal so we will be hitting the ground hard.

Connected on a cow yesterday. Took me most of the afternoon to skin, quarter and packout to the truck but was well worth it! Many thanks to a member on here who took the time to familiarize me with the unit and provide some very helpful tips!
-
Congrats on the cow. Out of curiosity what area? Unfortunately dad has to dine on tag soup this year. During the entire season we only saw the one large bull. Maybe next year.

I ended up over in area 1 yesterday. Spotted them in a deep sagebrush draw and was able to catch up with them after playing cat and mouse for about an hour. It was still a pretty long shot but it worked out. Area is so huge it's mind boggling! Wish you guys could have connected. I've been there trust me. Good luck in the future.
