Title: Missing leg
Post by: ridgefire on June 20, 2020, 07:33:01 PM
I was looking through my pics and came across this one. I can't tell if it's a wound or if the whole leg is missing. What you think?

Both front legs are there. Left one straight and right one slightly bent from taking a step likely.  There is what looks like a decent size injury right at the chest line.

That’s what I see also. Poor guy, wonder what happened to him.

wolves will bite that elbow there, not saying that's what did it but they will bite there frequently

that thing looks terrible

bas as it looks, wouldn't be surprised a coyote latched on

I thought the leg that was highlighted was the left rear leg.

Looks like he is just taking a step. The rest is behind the tree

Could be a open abscess on that elbow, atrophy on those antler tips and in tough general condition.  May not make the cut.

The cow I shot that was down from hoof rot had sores on her that looked similar.

May want to discuss this critter with the vet at WSU in charge of the hoof study, Dr. Wild
