My 300 win mag didn’t like h4350.   I ended up with H1000 and have had great luck.

If you can find it, RL26 can be good too.  I haven't looked for a while so I don't know about availability.

I loaded for a friends 300 Win mag with 190 VLD's.  I used H1000,  it worked "ok" for a custom rifle.  It started getting pretty full around 80 grains.  If i was to have a 180, i might try H4831SC or RL23.   H4350 seems a little too fast for that combo.

Yup too fast for good results.   H4350 is not easy to find right now.  May be able to trade it for h1000 which is also hard to find right now

H4350 might do well with a 125gr.  Definitely not with 180 +

I remember trying H4350 in my 300wm a long time ago and never could get acceptable results.  Every rifle is different so maybe you could find a decent load (likely not as good as with a slower powder).

The Hogdon website shows the below data. One thing that stood out to me is how short the COL is.  If you decide to try H4350 and 180 gr bullets, you probably would have a longer COL than what they show and thus you likely could go up in max charge weight. :twocents:

Good luck.

(PS...it may be easy to trade that 4350 to someone or sell it and get some H1000 or H4831.)

I had great luck with 180s in a 300 Win Mag with H4350. I ended up with 3025 fps with a 185gr Berger in a 24" barrel. That particular rifle shot best at the upper end of the charge range, but not so hot that the bolt lift was heavy. I was still within the published max load range of a few different sources for a 180gr bullet.

Go slow and work your way up and H4350 should work well for you.

I don’t know, you could probably sell the h1000 and buy a new rifle.  :chuckle:

I know someone who just paid $50 per pound for h1000!

I need more h1000! But I won’t pay those prices.  That darn yorke talked me in to this 37XC and now it’s eating me out of house and home :chuckle:
In reality I love h1000 and it works great in every rifle I have except the ar which never gets shot!   Hmmmm maybe I could trade that for more h1000

I think the going rate is about one AR per pound of H1000. I wouldn't even give a full pound for an AR though, maybe like a half pound of some left over H1000 that I pulled from old ammo that's been sitting for a couple years. :chuckle:

In fact, I have some H1000 and some H4831SC I would trade for soem H4350

I had good results with H1000 in my 300 WM but had better results with RL26

This is all I have left. But considering the going rate per pound bring me your AR's and we'll make a trade.
