If you have been to one of my seminars, you know that I always include her in my talk.
This is Pamela Almli who was killed by a bear hunter in Washington. Not posting this to start any sort of political thread, "she wore dark clothes", he shot to scare her, etc.
This post is a reminder that we cannot call back our bullets or arrows. Be sure what you are shooting at. Brush moving is not a bear. We are the ones responsible for our actions.
Be safe, stay hydrated, let someone know where you are going, when you'll be back, and when to start looking for you.
Have fun and good luck guys and gals! We are getting short on time before season.

100% agree.

Thank you for the reminder, stay safe everyone and wack a huge fawn killer!

Thanks for the post. 100% spot on. Take the extra couple seconds to be 1000% sure.

I grew up with the Almlis, knew Pam and her son well. She was a hiking machine. I’ll never forget that day she was shot, could never and still don’t understand how that could happen. Anyway, great reminder.

This will be my second year hunting bear and closest to hiker habitat. Thanks for the reminder.

Great reminder, no excuse for this to occur!

We can all never be too safe, make sure to identify your targets. RIP to Pam and God bless everyone.

I hunt near that area a lot. I try to avoid hikers as much as possible. I remember the day it happened. Very tragic. Thank you for the reminder.

Great post. Lots of berry pickers out there. Verify your target before sending it. I will have hunter orange on me in hopes of not getting shot at.
-
Brush pickers in GPNF, too. They had me scanning the hillside (binos) once.

Great timing to repeat this message.
